The Alpine passes are the "bottleneck" for north-south traffic over the Alps and also connections between valleys in Central Europe. Anyone traveling to the sunny south by car, motorcycle or bike Italy want to have to conquer a pass. There is plenty of choice.

Winter closure: The information is shown with Roman numerals for the months if there is no fixed date. The winter closure usually begins with the first major snowfall in late autumn, despite X this can only be in November. The opening depends heavily on the depth of snow and weather conditions. Easter is often the goal for the opening, the latest date is usually Pentecost. Even passes that are not closed in winter can be temporarily closed due to the risk of avalanches.
