Kalyasin is a city on the Uglich reservoir in Central Russia.

The city of Kalyasin is located on the Volga; it was a fishing village in the 15th century and developed into a city in the 18th century. The city was known for the production of felt slippers and for the textile ones sharpen. After the October Revolution, it lost its importance as a trading place. When in 1940 the Volga was dammed for a power station, large parts of the old town sank in the Uglich reservoir, including almost all of the churches.
