Gus Chrustalny (Russian: Гусь-Хрустальный) is a city in Central Russia and is one of the cities of Golden ring.
background
The city is on the river Gus. It emerged from a settlement near a lead crystal factory, which was built in the 18th century by a merchant Malzew Oryol Founded. It is located in the Meshchora lowland, about 200 km east of Moscow and 65 km south of Vladimir. When the river Gus was dammed, a large part of the old town sank, and the resulting lake divides the city. In the southern part is the modern glass factory, the Joakim Church from the 19th century, which is also still located here Malzew's houses. St. George's Cathedral and the train station are located in the northern part of the straight city.

activities
It is best to visit the city in summer, as there is a beautiful lake there and most of life takes place there during this time. You can get a great tan there, relax and enjoy the beautiful, almost village-like, Russian flair. In winter you can ice-skate on the frozen lake or go cross-country skiing in the surrounding forests, if you are not afraid of the Russian cold. On the whole, there isn't much more to experience here, but nonetheless the city exudes its very own charm.
