Ivanovo (Russian: Ива́ново) is the capital of Ivanovo Oblast in Central Russia.

Ivanovo is compared to the other cities of the Golden ring Relatively young, the first documentary mention comes from the year 1561. The place became important through an order of Tsar Peter I, who ordered the construction of textile factories here. The linen obtained in the area was processed here, and the town soon became known as a russian manchester designated. As fabric design and manufacture was traditionally viewed as a female profession, the city was predominantly young women, and Ivanovo gained a reputation as a City of Brides. The textile industry is still an important economic factor today.
