Tutayev (Russian: Тутаев) is a city on the Volga in Central Russia. Tutaev is a "pearl on the Volga", the city attracts with its well-preserved church architecture. Locals claim that the city is built on seven hills, seven gorges and seven plains.

The city of Tutayev lies on both sides of the Volga. Originally there were two independent cities. The city on the left bank of the Volga was called Romanovwhich was the place on the right bank Borisoglebsk. The unification to a city took place in 1822, the renaming in Tutayev took place in 1918. Ferries run between the two districts, there are no bridges (yet).

By plane

There is a small airport nearby 1  Tunoschna (Туношна городок, 26, Ярославская обл., 150502), Туношна городок, 26, Yaroslavl Oblast, Russia, 150502. Tel.: 7 485 243-18-67. Although it has the status of an international airport, only seasonal domestic connections to Moscow-Domodedovo and Saint Petersburg are offered.

By bus

There are bus connections to Yaroslavl and Rybinsk. The bus station is on the Borisoglebskaya side, on the outskirts of the city on the Yaroslavl side. It will not be in operation in 2020, the intercity bus stops are on the city motorway 50 years Siegesallee.

By train

From the railway line Yaroslavl-Rybinsk branches off a branch line to Tutayev to the district Romanov from.

The nearest train station is Chebakovo (16 km from the city, 3 pairs of trains per day). There are no convenient bus connections to Tutaev (the only possible connection if you leave Tutaev on Fridays and weekends at 8:45 a.m. and then take the suburban train to Nekose), so it is more convenient to take a bus in Yaroslavl or Rybinsk to switch.

In the street

Both parts of Tutayev are connected to Rybinsk and Yaroslavl by roads.

From Moscow, drive through Rostov on the M4 motorway and then turn left at the Gavrilov-Yam intersection. From Yaroslavl on the Boris and Gleb side along the R151 motorway; on Romanovskaya side along the M8, turn left after the village of Kusnechikha.

By boat

Excursion boats and ferries operate on the Volga in summer. During the shipping season, the hydrofoil "Meteor" (Метеор) stops daily on the Yaroslavl - Rybinsk route.
