Nordheim am Main is located on the Volkacher Mainschleife in the east of the Main triangle. The community is a nationally known wine town and in terms of area the largest wine-growing community in Franconia.

Nordheim am Main is an independent municipality and a member of the Volkach administrative community.
Besides viticulture there is also Fruit growing on orchards in the Main meadows and a larger number Fruit burners. Nordheim am Main has, according to Ortenau, the second highest density of distilleries in Germany. Of the 102 distillery rights, the distillery right is tied to the property of the houses and is "inherited" over the generations, around half is actually exercised. Above all, "artisanal" brandies are distilled.

In the street
From the west and south: Via the A3 motorway, Würzburg-Nuremberg, exit Kitzingen / Schwarzach and continue on the state road via Sommerach to Nordheim am Main;
From the north: Via the A7 motorway, Kassel-Ulm, Estenfeld exit, continue on the state road in the direction of Volkach and directly with the Main ferry to Eschernforf and with the Main ferry to Nordheim, or, with a detour of about 10 kilometers, via Volkach and the Volkacher Main Bridge to Nordheim.
By boat
The section of the river near Nordheim is closed to commercial shipping, the part of the Main near Nordheim am Main is cut off for shipping by the Main Canal, creating the so-called wine island. The nearest boat dock for that Main shipping is in Volkach.
By bike (optional)
Nordheim am Main is station on Main cycle path.

There is no Main Bridge in Nordheim, the next possibility to get to the north side of the Main (peninsula of the Mainschleife and further west / Würzburg), or to drive from there is the Main Bridge in Volkach.

Wine
The vineyards of Nordheim are "Nordheimer Vögelein" and "Nordheimer Kreuzberg". Most of them are grown Franconian grape varieties Müller-Thurgau (approx. 40%) and Silvaner (approx. 20%), but also Riesling (24%), Bacchus and other white and red wine varieties.
In Nordheim, the wines from the "Weininsel" are referred to as island wines, that is the area south of the Volkacher Mainschleife and between the Main and an artificial Main Canal (between Volkach and Gerlachshausen), on the Weininsel are the towns of Nordheim and the neighboring village and Weinort Sommerach in the south. The vineyards on the peninsula of the Mainschleife to the north are part of the wine village Escherndorf on the north opposite bank of the Main.
