Weinviertel - Weinviertel

The Weinviertel is the northeast part of Lower Austria. The region is limited in the north of Czech Republic, to the east of the March, to the south of Danube and the Wagram, the height level between Weinviertel and Marchfeld, and in the west of Manhartsberg (the height level between Weinviertel and Waldviertel.

The Weinviertel is the largest wine-growing region in Austria. Particularly dry white wines (Grüner Veltliner) are cultivated here, this is known locally under the name "Brünnerstraßler" (after the main road Vienna-Brno, along which many wine towns are located). The wine cellars dug into the loess soil shape the gently rolling landscape. In the far east, oil and gas production (Zistersdorf, Matzen).
