Żelechów is a city in the polish Voivodeship Mazovia on the border with the voivodeship Lublin on the Żelechów plateau not far from the sources of the Wilga, a tributary of the Vistula. The city is located in the historical region Stężycaer country in the northern part of the historical Lesser Poland, specifically in Sandomirer country. Before the Second World War, the majority of the population was Jewish. The city was a typical Polish shtetl.
