UNESCO-ICH-blue.svg

Intangible Cultural HeritageThe selection of representative works of human oral and intangible heritage began in 2001, once every two years, and multiple countries are encouraged to submit joint applications without occupying the quota. Not likeUNESCO World Heritage List, The intangible cultural heritage cannot be touched.

Intangible cultural heritage includes language, literature, music, dance, games, mythology, etiquette, habits, handicrafts, architectural art and other arts. In addition, it also includes traditional forms of contact and information. These intangible cultural heritage areUnited NationsThe so-called "human wealth".

The UNESCO list is divided into three different categories:

  • represent(List of Representative Works of Human Intangible Cultural Heritage): It integrates 90 "Masterpieces of Human Oral and Intangible Heritage" prior to 2008. This list refers to various social practices, concept expressions, expressions, knowledge, skills, and related tools, objects, handicrafts, and cultural displays that are regarded as part of culture by communities, groups or individuals.
  • protect(List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Urgent Need of Protection): Currently, there are 38 intangible cultural heritages that are still under great threat under the efforts of communities or groups. Contracting parties have promised to take specific protection measures and are eligible for international financial assistance.
  • social practice(Social practice most urgently in need of protection): It is considered to be an example that best reflects the principles and objectives of the Convention, and hopes to increase public awareness of the protection of intangible heritage.
