Regions
The region includes the urban district Aschaffenburg, as well as large parts of the districts of Aschaffenburg, Main-Spessart and Miltenberg. Geographically, it is dated to the west, south and east Main limited (Main square). In the northeast, the river Sinn separates the Spessart from the Bavarian Rhön (Rhön-Saale). The assignment of the municipalities is not always clear. Especially the communities in the Main valley are partly both the Spessart and Main Franconia assigned. The Hessian Spessart connects to the north.
The Spessart low mountain range is decisive for the landscape. This is in its own article Spessart for the two shares from Hessen, Lower Franconia treated together.

getting there
The Bavarian Spessart is about halfway between Frankfurt am Main and Wurzburg.
By train
In Aschaffenburg ICE stop on the line every hour Munich–Nuremberg–Frankfurt (Main) -Cologne–Ruhr area.
Other places in the Bavarian Spessart can be reached with the Main-Spessart-Express (RE) Frankfurt – Aschaffenburg–Gemünden–Würzburg or the Main valley railway (RB) Aschaffenburg–Miltenberg. The Franconian Saale Valley Railway drives from Schweinfurt above Bad Kissingen to Gemünden. A regional train leaves from neighboring East Hesse eight times a day Fulda or Neuhof via Burgsinn to Gemünden.
In the street
The highway (Frankfurt – Nuremberg) leads directly through the Spessart. The federal road runs to the west
(Seligenstadt / Aschaffenburg – Amorbach) along the Main and thus on the edge of the Spessart.
mobility
In order to make the hilly, wooded region of the Spessart more usable for e-bikes, more than 50 charging stations with 2 to 4 charging connections each were set up over the Bavarian Spessart under the project "ErFahren" (forest experience) ([1]). For the charging process you need a special charging cable suitable for the respective e-bike, which is relatively expensive to buy. Some of these charging cables can also be borrowed. Since there are many different charging connections on e-bikes, you should inquire before a tour whether a suitable cable for your own e-bike model can be borrowed on site.
