SARS-CoV-2 without background.pngWARNING: Due to the outbreak of the contagious disease COVID-19 (see coronavirus pandemic), caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2, also known as coronavirus, there are travel restrictions worldwide. It is therefore of great importance to follow the advice of the official bodies of Belgium and Netherlands to be consulted frequently. These travel restrictions may include travel restrictions, closure of hotels and restaurants, quarantine measures, being allowed to be on the street for no reason and more, and can be implemented with immediate effect. Of course, in your own interest and that of others, you must immediately and strictly follow government instructions.
London is a metropolis with several neighborhood items, each of which includes attractions, dining, entertainment, and accommodations.

London is located in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland usually referred to simply as United Kingdom, and in England which is part of it and is also the capital of both. London is the largest city in Western Europe. Inside Europe does it compete with Moscow. Greater London has an official population of approximately 7.5 million inhabitants. neighborhoods

London is a huge city and is divided into districts. The name London originally refers only to the original walled area Square Mile of the original Roman and later medieval city and named today the City of London or in short the City. London has a much greater significance, it contains most of the metropolis. The city has absorbed an enormous amount of surrounding cities over the centuries.

Greater London consists of 32 different districts and the City of London.

London is the capital of the United Kingdom and also of England, which is a part of it. It is one of the most impressive cities in the world and there is something for everyone. In shopping streets and gigantic shopping malls you will find the latest collections from every fashion segment. For culture lovers there are many museums and old buildings to visit. Think of the House of Parliaments, Big Ben and Buckingham Palace. Fancy a tasty bite? There is a Thai, Indian or Chinese restaurant on every street corner. Typical London food doesn't really exist, people like it very much chips and fish, the traditional French fries, often with vinegar and fried fish.

It London Museum, Museum of London (free entry) near the Barbican in the north of the city is an ideal opportunity for the traveler to get to know the city and understand the heritage of this beautiful city.

London can easily be called the largest city in the United Kingdom, eight times larger than the second largest city, Birmingham and ten times greater than the third city, Glasgow. It dominates the economic, political and social life of the UK, sometimes against the will of people from the counties outside London. Hence, for example, the statement everywhere except London. The city is full of excellent bars, theatres, museums, art galleries and parks. It is the country's most culturally and ethnically diverse region, with the nice side effect of having a wide variety of cuisines available. Samuel Jonhson said "Those who have had enough of London, have had enough of life". Whether you're interested in ancient history or contemporary art, opera or underground, London has it all.

The Royal Family of England has, over the centuries, worked extensively on the image of London, the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace, the Albert Memorial, the Royal Albert Hall and Westminster Abbey being the prime examples. London can safely say that it has a collection of the best museums and galleries in the world. An example is the British Museum.

History

Traces of the first inhabitants of the site of London date back to even before Roman times. There is evidence from the Bronze Age and Celtic peoples. The Roman City Londinium formed the basis of today's modern city, founded shortly after the Roman conquest of Brittania in AD 43. Some isolated Roman remains can still be seen in the city. The Roman rule lasted quite long until 410 AD. and was followed by Anglo-Saxon and Norman rule. Between these two periods there was a brief dip in London's development, soon followed by a gradual growth as a medieval city and later even becoming the new capital of the Kingdom of England in the place of Winchester. This important status of London was confirmed by the Norman William the Conqueror, who the Tower of London, the tower of London built after the Conquest in 1066. He was crowned King of England near Westminster.

London especially had many successive successes and with the growth of England as a European power and later as a world power, London became an important center of government, industry and culture and it still is. For example, London's long tradition in theater can be traced back to the English Renaissance (Roses Theater and Shakespeare's Globe) and great artists, such as Shakespeare, made London their home.

With the emergence of Britain as a superior maritime power in the 18th and 19th centuries and as the ruler of the largest global empire of the time, London became an imperial city, attracting people from all over the world and for many years London became the largest city in the world. Despite the empire's inevitable decline, significant losses during World War II, when London was heavily bombed by the German Luftwaffe, the city still remains a world-class metropolis, a global center of finance, knowledge and culture.

Arrive

There are plenty of options for getting to London.

By plane

London has six international airports, namely:

Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, London City and London Southend.

From Amsterdam are there flights to all five airports and also from Brussels several airports are served. This is because traffic to and in London can be time consuming and costly.

Also from Charleroi, Eindhoven and Rotterdam London can be reached by plane. These flights are destined for London Stansted or (from Rotterdam) London City. From London Stansted you can then travel to London by train. This journey takes approximately 55 minutes. From Groningen you can fly to London City. From London City you can travel with the DLR (Docklands Light Railway) to Central London and Greenwich.

Food

Fish 'n chips
Cannons Fish & Chips, Cannon Hill, Southgate

It is quite an undertaking for a visitor to find the 'right place' to eat in London, with the 'right atmosphere' and the 'right price'. Mainly because, as in any major city, there are thousands of restaurants to choose from, ranging from fast food, cafes and chains to the most exclusive restaurants in the world, attracting customers who don't ask about the price. It's not easy to tell the good from the bad, but London has something to suit every budget and taste. The following is a rough guide to what to expect when eating in one of those places:
