- 1 Geiranger
- the place at the end of the Geirangerfjord is also the only place on the fjord. From here the roads wind their way up in serpentines to leave the deep valley.
- 2 Hellesylt - a small settlement on the Sunnylvsfjord, which, like the Geirangerfjord, is a branch of the Storfjord. Hellesylt is the ferry location for the connection to Geiranger.

In everyday language, spoken Nynorsk (spoken by 10-15% of the Norwegian population) and spoken Bokmål (spoken by the majority of the population) are so similar that tourists with only rudimentary Norwegian language skills will hardly notice any differences.

Hiking and climbing
Numerous mountain regions and fells attract hikers and mountaineers to the region. The Romsdal, parts of the Dovrefjells and the Sunnmør Alps around Hjørundfjorden offer hikers different levels of difficulty in the tours.
One of the biggest challenges for climbers, on the other hand, is the Trollveggen, the Troll Wall, is a steep wall in the Trolltinden near Åndalsnes and Molde. With a height of 1,100 m vertically upwards from the foot, the Trollveggen is considered to be the largest vertical rock face in Europe.
