The egyptian Governorate Qinā (Arabic:محافظة قنا, Muḥāfaẓat Qinā) located in Upper Egypt (Egypt). It borders the governorate to the north Sōhāg, in the east to the governorate Red Sea, in the south to the governorate Luxor and in the west to the governorate New valley. The eastern part of the governorate extends into the Arabian desert. The administrative center is Qinā. The greater area around Luxor is the so-called tourist governorate, which has been independent since 2006 Luxor, also now the entire south between Luxor and Esna belongs.

In the Qinā governorate there are several cities with significant evidence from the Pharaonic, Coptic and Islamic times:

In December 2008, the obligation to convoy was largely abolished: from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. there is no longer any obligation to convoy. Convoys are still compulsory at night. Such private convoys can cost up to 200 euros.
