Kozienice is a historic city in the polish Voivodeship Mazovia on the South Mazovian Plain at the edge of Kozienice Heath at the Zagożdżonka, not far from where it joins the Vistula. The city is located in the historical region Radomer-Country, part of the Sandomirer Lands, in the northeast Lesser Poland. The Polish-Lithuanian king became king in the local royal palace in the 15th century Sigismund the Old born. Later the king left Stanislaus August expand the royal palace in the 18th century.
