Hiking routes in the Habichtswald (mountains) - Wanderrouten im Habichtswald (Gebirge)

Right across the Habichtswald were from HWGV Kassel and other branches in addition to the two well-known hiking routes Kassel-Steig and Habichtswaldsteig (including extra tours) a large number of local long-distance and circular hiking trails have been created, which are listed and described in more detail below in this article. For the main hiking trails and long-distance hiking trails that run through the Habichtswald, see the articles Hiking routes in North Hesse and Kassel, section Hiking tips.

For better orientation, the HWGV Kassel and the Hessian Forestry Office have set up several information boards, so-called hiking boards, at the starting points of the local hiking routes, which provide a good overview of the respective hiking trails. These are usually adequately signposted and marked so that getting lost can almost be ruled out. However, to be on the safe side, you should always take an appropriate hiking map with you; all marked hiking trails are also shown on the OpenStreetMap map linked to the right.

While the circular hiking trails are mostly designed as half-day tours, the long-distance hiking trails serve as connecting routes between several locations and accordingly have a higher number of kilometers. However, since, unlike the circular routes, they are not tied to certain starting points such as hiking parking lots, they can be extended or shortened as required and thus adapted to the desired length of the hike. For this reason, they often start and end at bus stops or train stations. Little by little, individual hiking routes are being marked as certified hiking or walking trails by the HWGHV, see the following Leaflet with further information such as the necessary criteria. Recommended or particularly scenic circular hiking trails and hiking routes are with one marked.

Essigberg hiking map

The 51.311399.346811 Essigberg hiking mapType is group designation is located on the northern edge of the large asphalted hiking car park Essigberg on Landesstraße 3298 (kassel-Habichtswald). From the access road to the Essigberg transmitter above the toboggan slope, which also serves as an access road to the hiking car park, you have a beautiful view of Burghasungen and the surrounding mountains. There are also several park benches and a refuge at this point. The bus stopMountain of vinegar (Line 22) is about 500 meters away and can be reached via a gravel forest path. The two circular hiking trails 5 and 6 lead past the hiking board, the official starting point of which is the nearby Essigberg hiking car park. Loop 10	3.5 km	Red Stollen hiking car park	The Circular hiking trail 10 leads from the Roter Stollen hiking car park up to the Tall grass (614.8 m) and further over the toboggan run and the ski slope of the Hohes Gras ski lift (may not be accessible during operation) down to almost the level of the Konrad-Göbel-Hütte. Passing the Ziegenkopf (564.7 m) west of the hill, you come back uphill to the Roter Stollen hiking car park at the former mine.

This is mainly known for the small ski area on the eastern slope and the climbing forest, as well as the restaurant with observation tower. Due to this attraction, the few parking spaces on the mountain can quickly be fully occupied, but if necessary you can still park along the wide paved access road. From the hikers' car park there is a direct route, sometimes steeper, back to the starting point, the summit of the Tall grass (614.8 m).
Loop 10	3 km	Hikers' parking lot tall grass	The Circular hiking trail 10 is the somewhat longer variant of circular route 9 and, in contrast to this, leads the entire ski slope or meadow / pasture down to almost the level of the Konrad-Göbel-Hütte. You hike back past the Ziegenkopf (564.7 m), the settlement of the same name and the Roter Stollen hiking car park at the former Roter Stollen mine High grass.

In addition to the Firnsbachtal hiking car park, the Roter Stollen hiking car park is one of two starting points for the "Um das Habichtspiel" mountain bike route Habichtswald Nature Park. Only a few meters south of the Roter Stollen hiking car park is the former Roter Stollen colliery, where coal was mined from under the Ziegenkopf from 1910 to 1940. From 1918 (goods traffic) and from 1922 (passenger traffic) to 1940, the meter-gauge Herkulesbahn ran from Kirchweg up to the Rote Stollen (not up to the summit of the Tall grass). Continue on the toboggan run (footpath in summer) downhill to the edge of the forest with a beautiful view as well as over the ski slope and under the ski lift over gravel forest paths to the Roter Stollen hiking car park at the former Roter Stollen colliery.
Loop 10	3.5 km	Red Stollen hiking car park	The Circular hiking trail 10 is the slightly longer variant of circular route 9 and, in contrast to this, leads from Tall grass from the entire ski slope or meadow / pasture in summer down to almost the level of the Konrad-Göbel-Hütte. You hike back past the Ziegenkopf (564.7 m) and the settlement of the same name, as well as along the former railway line of the meter-gauge Hercules Railway.

From there it is possible to make a detour of around 700 m to the Hirzstein viewpoint. Back through the upper Firnsbachtal, the autumn house and the clearing near the Ziegenkopf.
Circular route 13	4 km	Ziegenkopf hiking car park	The Circular hiking trail 13 is the shortened version of circular hiking trail 12 and does not run over the Teufelsmauer, but branches off just after the clearing south of the Ziegenkopf (sometimes parking lot) directly down over an asphalt forest path into the upper Firnsbach valley. The rest of the route, however, is identical to circular route 12 (via the Herbsthäuschen excursion restaurant).

The asphalted access road between Ehlener Straße or the Ziegenkopf hiking car park and the Herbsthäuschen is known as the Birkenweg, or more rarely Hermann-Wenning-Weg. Since the closure of the Neue Zeche Herkules hiking car park on the opposite side of Ehlener Strasse (Landesstrasse 3298), circular routes 15 and 16 also start at the Birkenweg hiking car park. Circular route 15	4 km	Birkenweg hiking car park (formerly the Neue Zeche Herkules car park)	The Circular hiking trail 15 actually starts at the Herkules hiking car park (southern part; no hiking board) and should be walked on from there if possible. From Herkules it goes over the 555 m high Hüttenberg with Little Hercules to the mountain lake Asch im Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe (Attention mountain bikers!), As well as back via the Neuholland settlement. Loop 16	3 km	Birkenweg hiking car park (formerly the Neue Zeche Herkules car park)	The Circular hiking trail 16 first leads over a 500 m long cul-de-sac to above the Neuholland settlement, according to the hiking board. Via the former railway line of the Herkulesbahn (1902-1966) you hike up to below the Herkules (part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe; Visitor center) and via a gravel forest path back to the settlement of Neuholland in the Druseltal.

On the opposite side of the parking lot is the Hercules visitor center with the bus stopHercules (Lines 22 and 23). First it leads along with the circular hiking trail 14 west of the Bachberg along the edge of the forest to Elfbuchen, where some gymnastics equipment can be found along the way, and back over the Bachberg (with a downhill section).
Circular route 14	4 km	Herkules hiking car park	The Circular hiking trail 14 also connects the Herkules with the Waldhotel Elfbuchen, but on the way back leads east of the Bachberg (561 m) past on unpaved, narrow forest paths. The circular route is mainly used because of the popular hotel, restaurant and café Elfbuchen. The nearby dilapidated observation tower from 1879 no longer offers a view and is closed.
Circular route 15	4 km	Herkules hiking car park	The Circular hiking trail 15 leads over the 555 m high Hüttenberg with Little Hercules (remnant of one of the unfinished buildings from 1696) to the mountain lake Asch im Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe (Attention mountain bikers!), An idyllic and quiet forest lake on the Hunrodsberg, which serves as a collecting pond for the Wilhelmshöher water features serves. Past a water treading area and the Pfaffenteich, it goes steeply up to the mountain lake Asch, and then on a partly stony, unpaved forest path back down into the Druseltal. At the beginning of the hike, it is recommended to walk on the panorama path (marked as Kassel-Steig and Ederseeweg (E)).

The 51.326719.4113210 Lawn avenue hiking boardType is group designation is at the western end of the gravel parking lot of the same name opposite the confluence of Schanzenstraße (no through traffic, forestry traffic free) into Landesstraße 3217 (Rasenallee). The lawn avenue was in 1797 for Landgrave Wilhelm IX. and aristocratic riders as a connection between Wilhelmshöhe Castle (kassel) and Wilhelmsthal Palace (Calden), expanded in the 1960s and freed from some sharp bends. Circular route 19	5.5 km	Grasallee parking lot for hikers	The Circular hiking trail 19 initially leads steadily uphill on gravel forest roads through the forest. To the east past the Hühnerbergwiese and above the artists' necropolis, the circular path branches off sharply to the north-east of the Hühnerberg (496 m) to the south. From the Wurmbergsattel (474 m) you hike downhill on gravel paths to the Seeberg and on forest paths past the Fuchslöchern.

You continue on graveled footpaths through the artists' necropolis and past the Blue Lake, before reaching the lawn avenue again via graveled forest roads.

Hessenschanze hiking board

The 51.325469.4258311 Hessenschanze hiking boardType is group designation is located opposite the bus stopHessenschanze (Line 8) on Schanzenstrasse just after leaving the town of kassel. A forest clearing at the foot of the Habichtswaldes referred to, which was formerly also called Saurasen. The name Hessenschanze arose from the French jumps there from the Seven Years' War and the former sports field of the "Hessen" Kirchditmold sports club before the First World War. In addition to circular route 20, a two-kilometer forest adventure trail, which was opened in May 2013 and replaced the Fritz-Follmann-Weg established in 1970, also starts at the Hessenschanze. Loop 20	2 km	Hessenschanze hiking car park	The Circular hiking trail 20 first follows the old forest nature trail named after the meritorious local historian and HWGHV board member Fritz Follmann (1899-1976) over unpaved forest paths to just below the lawn avenue. Continue also on unpaved paths along the clearing Hessenschanze (with forest playground and old toboggan runs), before you cross this diagonally uphill.
Loop 27	4 km	Lawn avenue for hikers	The Circular hiking trail 27 runs parallel to Rasenallee on a footpath to the Seebergstrasse hiking car park, as well as further along with the Fulda-Diemel-Weg (F) to above the Berg Freiheit hiking car park. Wandertafel Künstlernekropole

The 51.33769.4100315 Wandertafel KünstlernekropoleType is group designation am Wanderparkplatz Bergfreiheit stellt den offiziellen Ausgangspunkt der Künstlernekropole dar, auch wenn Stellenweise der Wanderparkplatz Seebergstraße genannt wird. Die Nekropole geht zurück auf den documenta-Künstler Harry Kramer (1925-1997) und wird von einer Stiftung, die aus dessen Privatvermögen hervorgegangen ist, betreut. documenta-Künstler verpflichteten sich zu Lebzeiten testamentarisch sich im Habichtswald am Blauen See beerdigen zu lassen. Bislang finden sich neun Grabmonumente rund um den Blauen See (Stand 2016). Eine Informationsbroschüre ist unter anderem im Kasseler Museum für Sepulkralkultur erhältlich; das Foto der Wandertafel ist in der Vollauflösung gut lesbar.

In etwa 250 m Entfernung befindet sich die gleichnamige bus stopFreibad Harleshausen (Linie 10). Wer trotzdem eine Begehung wagt wird mit der mysteriösen Firnskuppe, der Geschichte des Urochs (Ossen) von Harleshausen und einigen schönen Aussichten belohnt.

Obwohl der Rundwanderweg 21 ebenfalls über den Wanderparkplatz Firnskuppe verläuft, ist er nicht auf der Wandertafel verzeichnet. Westlich der Kreuzung Rasenallee/Wolfhager Straße befindet sich, ungefähr in 270 m Entfernung zur Wandertafel Firnskuppe, die bus stopKreuzung Rasenallee (Line 110). Am Gasthaus selbst gibt es keine Parkplätze. The bus stopErlenloch (Line 110) befindet sich in 200 m, bzw. in Gegenrichtung 250 m Entfernung an der Wolfhager Straße (Bundesstraße 251). Rundweg 23	2,5 km	Wanderparkplatz Erlenloch	The Rundwanderweg 23 führt ausgehend vom Wanderparkplatz an der Wolfhager Straße vorbei am Erlenloch, einem ehemaligen Restloch nach Steinbruchbetrieb und heutigem See, und über den Blindenwanderpfad zum Wanderparkplatz Bergfreiheit am Ortsausgang von Harleshausen. Zurück vorbei an der ehemaligen Ausflugsgaststätte Mosthof, sowie über die Alte Wolfhager Straße und unbefestigte Waldwege.
Rundweg 24	2,5 km	Wanderparkplatz Erlenloch	The Rundwanderweg 24 verbindet den Wanderparkplatz Firnskuppe bzw. die Kreuzung Rasenallee/Wolfhager Straße mit der Waldgaststätte zum Erlenloch. Bei einer Begehung ausgehend vom Wanderparkplatz Erlenloch läuft man am Erlenloch vorbei und über geschotterte Forstwege hinunter zur Rasenallee. Anschließend erfolgt der Rückweg über eine alte geschotterte Allee wieder bergauf zurück zum Erlenloch.
Rundweg 28	4 km	Wanderparkplatz Erlenloch	The Rundwanderweg 28 für vom Gasthaus zum Erlenloch zunächst über einen unbefestigten Waldweg zur Alten Wolfhager Straße. Diesem teils alleeartigen Weg folgt er vorbei an Lichtungen in westlicher Richtung, bevor er in einen asphaltierten Weg hinauf zur Silberborn, einer gefassten Quelle mit Schutzpilz, abzweigt, dem höchsten Punkt des Rundweges. Zurück meist bergab über geschotterte Forstwege.

Wandertafel Triffelsbühl

Vom Wanderparkplatz Triffelsbühl führt ein Fußweg hinunter in das Ahnetal zum ehemaligen Gasthaus Ahnetal (etwa 350 m), an dem sich neben dem Rettungspunkt KS-581 auch die bus stopAhnetal (Line 110) befindet (letzte bzw. erste Bushaltestelle im Tarifgebiet Stadt Kassel). Rundweg 1	4 km	Wanderparkplatz Triffelsbühl	The Rundwanderweg 1 verläuft zunächst als Stichweg entlang des Waldrandes hinunter in eine kleine Schlucht. Together with the Fulda-Diemel-Weg (F) wandert man aus dieser heraus bis unterhalb des 477 m hohen Hohlesteines (Schutzhütte), von dem man eine nette Aussicht hat. Im Anschluss führt der Wegeverlauf über asphaltierte Wege nördlich des Katzensteines (425 m) entlang zurück zum "Stichweg".

Wandertafel Igelsburg

The 51.340089.3717320 Wandertafel IgelsburgType is group designation liegt am gleichnamigen Wanderparkplatz Igelsburg an der befestigten Zufahrtsstraße von der Wolfhager Straße (Bundesstraße 251) zur Gaststätte Silbersee bzw. den Steinbrüchen rund um den Silbersee. Bei der Igelsburg handelt es sich um eine abgegangene Höhenburg mit mittelalterlicher Töpferei (näheres siehe örtliche Schau- und Informationstafeln). Zwischen 1911 und 1996 befand sich unweit östlich der Igelsburg zudem eine Gaststätte. Vom Wanderparkplatz sind es circa 450 m zur bus stopIgelsburg (Line 110) an der Wolfhager Straße (Bundesstraße 251). Auf die Streckenlängen der beiden Rundwanderwege sind rund 900 m Zuweg zwischen Wanderparkplatz und Igelsburg einfach zuzurechnen. Rundweg 35	3,5 km	Wanderparkplatz Igelsburg	The Rundwanderweg 35 führt von der Wegekreuzung südlich der Igelsburg entlang des Waldrandes bis zum Forsthaus Haide (bis 1915 Pension), von wo ein kleiner Abstecher zum See Höllchen lohnt. Vorbei an der Kaiserbuche, heutiger Ersatzbaum für eine etwa 500 Jahre alte Buche, die um 1985 bei einem Sturm entwurzelt wurde, und dem Silbersee erreicht man über den Eco Pfad wieder die Igelsburg.

Knapp 100 m nördlich die Straße Schulweg hinauf befindet sich der zugehörige Wanderparkplatz mit Einstiegstafel und Wegweiser des Habichtswaldsteiges. Die nächste Bushaltestelle ist die bus stoptown hall (Lines 22 and 117) in etwa 400 m Entfernung in der Laubachstraße. Rundweg D1	3,5 km	Grundschule Habichtswald	The Rundwanderweg D1 führt zunächst zusammen mit dem Kassel-Edersee cycle path über die Straße Vor dem Berge in östlicher Richtung aus Dörnberg hinaus. Kurz hinter einem Aussiedlerhof zweigt die Wanderroute nach Norden in einen kurvigen Waldweg ab, der oberhalb des Sportplates immer am Hang entlang verläuft. Zusammen mit Rundweg D2 wird wieder die Schule von Dörnberg erreicht.
Rundweg D2	7.5 km	Grundschule Habichtswald	The Rundwanderweg D2 startet anfangs ähnlich wie Rundweg D1, folgt dem Kassel-Edersee cycle path aber bis hinauf an den Waldrand westlich des Hohlesteines (477 m). Unterhalb des Hohen Dörnberg (579 m) entlang wird die Siedlung Friedrichstein (mit Café) erreicht, über deren asphaltierte Zufahrtsstraße man südlich des Heilerbachtales bergab läuft. Entlang des Waldrandes erreicht man wieder Dörnberg.

Wandertafel Horstweg

Unmittelbar westlich des Wanderparkplatzes entsteht zur Zeit (Stand 2016) das Neubaugebiet "Auf der Horst". In etwa 550 m Entfernung zum Wanderparkplatz Horstweg liegt die bus stopcenter (Lines 22, 110 and 117) an der Wolfhager Straße (Bundesstraße 251). Am Waldrand oberhalb des Wanderparkplatzes Horstweg am Wassertretbecken Höllchen (mit beschriftetem Panorama) befindet sich der Rettungspunkt KS-569. Rundweg 34	3 km	Wanderparkplatz Igelsburg	The Rundwanderweg 34 startet eigentlich an einer Wegekreuzung südlich der Igelsburg, zu welcher ausgehend vom Wanderparkplatz Igelsburg ein gut 900 m langer Zuweg führt. Vom Wanderparkplatz Horstweg aus beträgt die Entfernung zum Rundweg 34 einfach etwa 1,9 km. Die Streckenführung des Rundweges 34 umrundet einmal den Silbersee, sowie den großen südlich gelegenen Basalttagebau.
Rundweg 35	3,5 km	Wanderparkplatz Igelsburg	The Rundwanderweg 35 startet eigentlich ebenso wie Rundweg 34 nahe der Igelsburg, wäre aber durch einen nur etwa 900 m langen Zuweg auch vom Wanderparkplatz Horstweg aus begehbar. Vorbei am Forsthaus Haide (nahe gelegen das Höllchen) führt er zur Kaiserbuche und weiter zusammen mit dem Eco Pfad zum Silbersee. Zurück am Waldrand entlang mit schönem Blick Richtung Katzenstein (425 m).
Rundweg D3	5 km	Wanderparkplatz Horstweg	The Rundwanderweg D3 umrundet einmal ein kleines Quellgebiet nahe des See Höllchen, zu welchem unbedingt ein kleiner Abstecher gemacht werden sollte. Man wandert vorbei an Kleinem und Großen Auskopf (518 m) und durch den Ortskern von Dörnberg hindurch. Letzterer Abschnitt kann über die Straßen Neuer Weg und Auf der Horst leicht abgekürzt werden, zudem wird die Wolfhager Straße (B 251) ausgelassen.
Rundweg D4	9 km	Wanderparkplatz Horstweg	The Rundwanderweg D4 führt ausgehend vom Wanderparkplatz Horstweg bis hinauf zur landschaftlich schön gelegenen Kastanienallee und vorbei am Basalttagebau. Der nahe Silbersee ist über einen kurzen, nur wenige Meter bedeutenden Abstecher zu erreichen. Letzterer Abschnitt kann über die Straßen Neuer Weg und Auf der Horst leicht abgekürzt werden, zudem wird die Wolfhager Straße ausgelassen.

Mehrere Abschnitte verlaufen zusammen mit dem Eco path cultural history Habichtswald. Dem Hauptautor dieses Artikels ist Stand 2016 leider unklar, ob der Rundwanderweg nur in eine Richtung oder in beide Richtungen markiert ist (gilt auch für Rundwanderweg E1).
Rundweg E3	10 km	Erlebnisbad Ehlen	The Rundwanderweg E3 umrundet einmal vollständig den Habichtswälder Ortsteil Ehlen. Der Streckenverlauf führt unter anderem über den Parkplatz im Grund, vorbei am Habichtsstein, durch das Warmetal, über Gut Bodenhausen und vorbei am Friedhof. Dem Hauptautor dieses Artikels ist Stand 2016 unklar, ob der Rundwanderweg nur in eine Richtung oder in beide Richtungen markiert ist.

Wandertafel Bühl

The 51.35689.3824224 Wandertafel BühlType is group designation ist am von der Dörnbergstraße (Kreisstraße 29) aus gesehen vorderem Parkplatz westlich des Bühls zu finden. Der beliebte Badesee Bühl mit Campingplatz, Spielplatz und Minigolfanlage mit Kiosk geht auf den Abbau eines Basaltkegels zwischen 1843 und 1929 zurück. Im Laufe der Jahrzehnte verschwand der ursprüngliche Berg und es entstand ein Trichter, der sich mit Wasser füllte. Für weitere Informationen siehe auch die örtliche Informations- und Schautafel des Kassel-Steiges. In etwa 350 m Entfernung zur Wandertafel befindet sich die bus stopAm Bühl (Linie 49). Rundweg 37	3,5 km	Wanderparkplatz Bühl	The Rundwanderweg 37 führt vorbei am Bühl und entlang des südöstlichen Ortsrandes von Weimar entlang bis zur Bahnstrecke Obervellmar-Volkmarsen auf Höhe des Bahnhofes Ahnatal-Weimar. Man folgt einem geschotterten Wirtschaftsweg am Bahndamm entlang hinunter in das Ahnetal und wandert südöstlich von dieser durch die Steinfeldwiesen. Über einen steileren Weg wird wieder der Bühl erreicht.
Rundweg 38	7 km	Wanderparkplatz Bühl	The Rundwanderweg 38 verbindet den Bühl mit dem Hohlestein (477 m; siehe auch Eco path archeology Dörnberg). Während der Hinweg vorbei am Sportplatz und durch den Dörnberggrund erfolgt, führt der Rückweg vorbei am ehemaligen Gasthaus Ahnetal an der Wolfhager Straße (Bundesstraße 251) und durch das Ahnetal. Der Hohlestein mit schöner Aussicht kann über einen nicht markierten Weg bestiegen werden.

Wandertafel Heckershausen Dorfplatz

The 51.366249.4281525 Wandertafel Heckershausen DorfplatzType is group designation ist am Gemeindezentrum im Ortskern von Heckershausen zu finden, wo sich auch ausreichend Parkplätze finden. Nächste Bushaltestelle ist die bus stopcenter (Lines 48 and 49) an der Hauptstraße (Kreisstraße 31). Die Rundwege H1-H4 werden vom HWGHV Ahnatal markiert, weitere Informationen zu den Ahnataler Rundwanderwegen sind unter www.fingerle.eu (HWGHV) zu finden. Rundweg H1	9,3 km	Dorfplatz Heckershausen	The Rundwanderweg H1 "Hessenweg" führt am Waldrand westlich des Stahlberges (348 m) entlang und mit dem Kassel-Steig über die Rasenallee hinweg. Über eine Großviehweide erreicht man den Tiergarten und das Lindenrondell, sowie weiter entlang der Lindenallee Schloss Wilhelmsthal. Nach Durchquerung des Schlossparkes führt der Hesswenweg zwischen Staufenberg und Stahlberg hindurch zurück.
Rundweg H2	5,5 km	Dorfplatz Heckershausen	The Rundwanderweg H2 "Waldeslust-Pfad" umrundet einmal den Staufenberg (361 m) und führt dabei bis nach Espenau-Schäferberg, wo sich das Gasthaus Waldeslust befindet. Von Heckershausen wandert man auf dem Lieseprinzweg zum Waldrand, zusamment mit dem Kassel-Steig bis nach Schäferberg sowie über Staufenberg (361 m) und Stahlberg (348 m) zurück zum Dorfplatz, dem Ausgangspunkt.
Rundweg H3	4,9 km	Dorfplatz Heckershausen	The Rundwanderweg H3 "Sagenweg" führt von Heckershausen bis zur sagenumwobenen Firnskuppe (314 m) und zurück. Heckershausen wird über die Firnskuppenstraße verlassen, in deren Verlängerung ein Wirtschaftsweg bis hinauf an den Waldrand verläuft, wo man auf den Rundweg 25 trifft. Anschließend über die Kuhtrift vorbei am Bahnhof Ahnatal-Heckershausen wieder zurück zum Dorfplatz Heckershausen.
Rundweg H4	8,6 km	Dorfplatz Heckershausen	The Rundwanderweg H4 "Erlenloch-Weg" folgt der Grundstraße vorbei am Bahnhof Ahnatal-Heckershausen hinaus und der Kuhtrift über das Lohrfeld. Vom Waldrand läuft man vorbei am Wanderparkplatz Erlenloch bis hinauf zum Erlenloch mit Waldgaststätte, das einmal umrundet wird. Weiter vorbei an den Suderfeldwiesen zur Bahnstrecke Obervellmar-Volkmarsen und an dieser entlang zurück nach Heckershausen.

Wandertafel Weimar Altes Rathaus

In unmittelbarer Nähe liegen die bus stopOld Town Hall (Lines 48 and 49) and bus stopchurch (Line 48). Rundweg W5	9,3 km	Altes Rathaus Weimar	The Rundwanderweg W5 "Ahnetal-Weg" verlässt Weimar über den Ahneweg und führt östlich der Suderfeldwiesen in den Habichtswald into it. Nach Umrundung des Erlenloches wandert man vorbei an der Waldgaststätte zum Erlenloch und über die Alte Wolfhager Straße zum ehemaligen Gasthaus Ahnetal an der Wolfhager Straße (Bundesstraße 251). Vorbei am Bühl erreicht man über den Bühlweg wieder Weimar.
Rundweg W6	6.8 km	Altes Rathaus Weimar	The Rundwanderweg W6 "Hohlestein-Pfad" führt über den Seesenweg aus Weimar hinaus und zusammen mit Rundweg 38 durch den Dörnberggrund zum Hohlestein. Nach Umrundung des Berges, der über einen nicht markierten Pfad auch bestiegen werden kann, verläuft der Hohlestein-Pfad auf befestigten und unbefestigten Waldwegen und schließlich über den Hohlesteinweg wieder nach Weimar hinein.
Rundweg W7	8,4 km	Altes Rathaus Weimar	The Rundwanderweg W7 "Dörnbergweg" verläuft ausgehend vom Alten Rathaus über Oberstraße und Fürstenwalder Straße aus Weimar hinaus. Stetig bergauf läuft man durch den Wald südlich des Hangarsteinsees entlang bis zum Dörnberghaus bzw. Segelfluggelände am Dörnberg. Unterhalb nördlich der Helfensteine vorbei wandert man zusammen mit der Wanderroute ⊥ durch den Wald bergab wieder nach Weimar zurück.
Rundweg W8	8,5 km	Altes Rathaus Weimar	The Rundwanderweg W8 "Schloßweg" trägt zwar das Schloss Wilhelmsthal im Titel, führt aber nicht direkt an diesem vorbei. Stattdessen führt er von Weimar aus nordwestlich an Kammerberg vorbei hinauf bis zum Tiergarten und durch diesen hindurch. Vorbei am Naturschutzgebiet Keischel mit Kalkmagerrasen läuft man hinunter zum Dorfbach und über die Straßen Erlebach und Diebeltor in den Ortskern.

Wandertafel Vellmar Festplatz

The 51.358479.4678227 Wandertafel Vellmar FestplatzType is group designation steht am Rande des Festplatzes direkt an der Brüder-Grimm-Straße, wo sich auch ein Parkplatz befindet. Unmittelbar südlich der Wandertafel ist die bus stopFairground (Lines 1, 41 and 43) zu finden. Westlich der Holländischen Straße (Bundesstraßen 7/83) beginnt der Ahnepark, östlich der Brüder-Grimm-Straße der Untere Ahnepark. Über weitere Wandertafeln auf dem Gebiet der Stadt Vellmar ist dem Hauptautor dieses Artikels mit Stand 2016 nichts bekannt. Ebenfalls unbekannt ist, ob die Rundwanderwege nur einseitig oder in beide Richtungen markiert werden. Rundweg V1	6 km	Festplatz Vellmar	The Rundwanderweg V1 "Heideweg" umrundet einmal den Vellmarer Stadtteil Obervellmar. Vorbei am Haltepunkt Vellmar-Osterberg/EKZ führt die Wanderroute hinauf auf den Osterberg, durch das dort entstandene Neubaugebiet und Obervellmar hindurch und hinunter in das Ahnetal zu den Sportplätzen im Gleisdreieck und zum Freibad Obervellmar. Nach Durchquerung des Ahneparkes wird wieder der Festplatz erreicht.
Rundweg V2	7 km	Festplatz Vellmar	The Rundwanderweg V2 "Nordweg" führt ausgehend vom Festplatz einmal rund um den Vellmarer Stadtteil Frommershausen. Vorbei kommt der Wanderer unter anderem am Unteren Ahnepark, der Grillhütte Frommershausen unterhalb des Breiten Steines, den Fußballplätzen des TSV 1892 Vellmar, der Straßenbahnendhaltestelle Vellmar Nord und dem Ahnepark. Mehrere Spielplätze für Kinder liegen direkt am Wegesrand.
Rundweg V3	7.5 km	Festplatz Vellmar	The Rundwanderweg V3 "Wartebergweg" folgt zunächst der Ahne flussabwärts vorbei an Niedervellmar. Über den Wartberg (229 m) mit dem Adam-v.-Trott-zu-Solz-Denkmal erreicht man das Gelände der Bundesbereitschaftspolizei und weiter die bekannte Grillhütte Frommershausen. Zusammen mit dem Vellmarer "Nordweg V2" wird durch den Unteren Ahnepark wieder der Festplatz erreicht.
Rundweg V4	6.5 km	Festplatz Vellmar	The Rundwanderweg V4 "Osterbergweg" erschließt das Gebiet rund um den Osterberg (258 m) und den Stadtteil Vellmar-West. Am Wegesrand liegen unter anderem der Haltepunkt Vellmar-Osterberg/EKZ, der Friedhof Vellmar, die Wasserbehälter Osterberg und das Wäldchen am Kiefernweg, das bereits auf Kasseler Urban area. In der Saision können auf dem Osterberg Erdbeeren selbst geerntet werden.
Rundweg V5	10 km	Festplatz Vellmar	The Rundwanderweg V5 "Stauffenbergweg" folgt zunächst der Ahne durch den Ahnepark und später der Ehlsche flussaufwärts bis Espenau-Schäferberg. Führte die Wanderroute bis dorthin durch eine offene, durch Landwirtschaft geprägte Landschaft, wird es nun waldreich. Über Staufenberg (361 m) und Weinberg (248 m) führt der Rundwanderweg hinunter in das Ahnetal und durch den alten Ortskern von Obervellmar.
Rundweg V	32 km	Sporthalle Obervellmar	The Rundwanderweg V "Grenzweg" verläuft meist grenznah einmal um das Stadtgebiet von Vellmar around. Bester Ausgangspunkt für die 32 km lange Wanderroute ist dabei die Sporthalle Obervellmar; über den Festplatz führt der Rundweg nicht. Weite Teile verlaufen zusammen mit anderen Wanderrouten wie dem Kassel-Steig. Als Zwischenziel auf halber Wegstrecke eignet sich gut der Breite Stein (252 m).

Wandertafel Schäferberg

The 51.382919.437528 Wandertafel SchäferbergType is group designation steht am Rande des gleichnamigen Wanderparkplatzes an der Buchenallee (Landesstraße 3217). Wenige Meter östlich verläuft die zweispurig ausgebaute Holländische Straße (Bundesstraßen 7/83) vorbei. Auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite von dieser in circa 350 m Entfernung liegen die bus stopSchäferberg (Lines 47 and 100) sowie das bekannte Waldhotel Schäferberg mit Restaurant/Café und Biergarten. Am Wanderparkplatz Schäferberg befindet sich der Rettungspunkt KS-559; das Foto der Wandertafel ist in der Vollauflösung gut lesbar.

Rundweg 1	2,5 km	Wanderparkplatz Schäferberg	The Rundwanderweg 1 führt auf einem befestigten Forstweg in südlicher Richtung bis zum Stahlberg (348 m), in nordöstlicher Richtung zum Staufenberg (361 m) und über den bereits vom Hinweg bekannten befestigten Forstweg wieder zurück zum Wanderparkplatz Schäferberg. Rundweg 2	5,5 km	Wanderparkplatz Schäferberg	The Rundwanderweg 2 ist zunächst im Streckenverlauf mit Rundweg 1 identisch. Ab dem Stahlberg (348 m) führt er dann jedoch hinunter zum Oberen Tanzeplatz und zusammen mit dem Kassel-Steig auf schmaleren Waldwegen oberhalb von Heckershausen entlang. Auf geschotterten Forst- und Wirtschaftswegen erreicht man schließlich wieder westlich entlang der Holländischen Straße den Wanderparkplatz Schäferberg.

Wandertafel Lindenrondell

The 51.39149.4016329 Wandertafel LindenrondellType is group designation befindet sich nur wenige Meter südlich des Lindenrondells, dem früheren Ausgangspunkt und Versammlungsort der höfischen Jagden durch den Tiergarten, am gleichnamigen Wanderparkplatz. Das Lindenrondell ist auch einer der Ausgangspunkte des Eco Pfades Archäologie Calden; unweit nördlich liegt zudem das Waldschwimmbad Calden. Die nächste Bushaltestelle ist die bus stopWilhelmsthal (Line 47) in einem Kilometer Entfernung, weitere Haltestellen gleicher Entfernung (Linien 47, 132 and 133) sind zudem in Calden selbst zu finden. Am Wanderparkplatz Lindenrondell befindet sich der Rettungspunkt KS-555; das Foto der Wandertafel ist in der Vollauflösung gut lesbar.

Rundweg 1	5,5 km	Lindenrondell car park for hikers	The Rundwanderweg 1 führt vom Lindenrondell vorbei an den Mantel Eichen und am Jagdstern (auch Sababurger Runt) tief in das Waldgebiet Tiergarten hinein. An einer Wegekreuzung mit Sitzmöglichkeiten und Wegweiser zweigt der Rundweg in südliche Richtung ab und man erreicht den Waldrand des Tiergartens. Diesem folgt man nun in östlicher und nördlicher Richtung zurück zum Wanderparkplatz Lindenrondell.
Rundweg 2	3,5 km	Lindenrondell car park for hikers	The Rundwanderweg 2 verläuft wie Rundweg 1 zunächst vom Lindenrondell vorbei an den Mantel Eichen und am Jagdstern bis an die bereits erwähnte Wegekreuzung. Hier nun allerdings nach Norden vorbei an einem Wasserbehälter bis unweit südlich des Galeriegrabes Calden II. Zusammen mit dem Märchenlandweg (M) am Waldrand entlang erreicht man vorbei an den Mantel Eichen wieder das Lindenrondell.

Wandertafel Brasselsberg

The 51.283969.4062930 Wandertafel BrasselsbergType is group designation mit gleichnamigen Wanderparkplatz liegt unterhalb des Steinernen Schweinchens (bekannt durch das nahe Hotel und Restaurant), einem im Jahr 1870 beim Bau der Neuen Corbacher Straße (heute Konrad-Adenauer-Straße) gefundenen Quarzit, dessen Form an einen Schweinerücken erinnern soll. Unmittelbar östlich verläuft die Konrad-Adenauer-Straße (Landesstraße 3218), an der sich auch die bus stopBirkenkopf in etwa 350 m und die bus stopBrasselsberg (beide Linien 51, 52, 53 and 55) in gut 550 m Entfernung befinden. Rundweg 1	5 km	Wanderparkplatz Brasselsberg	The Rundwanderweg 1 kann alternativ auch am Wanderparkplatz Hirzstein gestartet werden, von dort allerdings rund 650 m Zuweg einfach. Vom Wanderparkplatz Brasselsberg führt der Rundweg über die Sieben Teiche zur Wegekreuzung Kaffeemühle und von dort hinunter zum Rohrbach/Fischbach an den Waldrand mit schöner Aussicht. Rundweg 2	3,5 km	Wanderparkplatz Brasselsberg	The Rundwanderweg 2 verläuft zunächst parallel zur Konrad-Adenauer-Straße (Landesstraße 3218) vorbei am Steinernen Schweinchen bis zur Fußgängerbrücke Bilsteiner Born (Bushaltestelle). Nun aufwärts bis kurz unterhalb der Wegekreuzung Kaffeemühle und vorbei an den durch Sandgewinnung entstandenen Sieben Teichen zurück zum Ausgangspunkt der Tour, dem Wanderparkplatz Brasselsberg.
Rundweg 3	5 km	Wanderparkplatz Brasselsberg	The Rundwanderweg 3 ist im Großen und Ganzen im Streckenverlauf identisch mit Rundweg 2, führt jedoch hinauf zum 1904 eingeweihten Bismarckturm auf dem Brasselsberg mit schönem Rundblick. Weiter zur Porta lapidaria, einem Durchgang zwischen den felsigen Bilsteinklippen und hinunter zur Wegekreuzung Kaffeemühle. Die restliche Wegführung ist wieder identisch mit der des Rundwanderweges 2.

Wandertafel Baunsberg

The 51.277389.4038331 Wandertafel BaunsbergType is group designation can be found on the eastern edge of the hiking car park of the same name, which is north of the fully wooded Baunsberg (410 m) on the 3215 road. The junction 68 "Kassel-Bad Wilhelmshöhe" of the federal motorway 44 is nearby. From 1897 to the 1980s, there was a stone viewing platform with a refuge, called Rondelchen, on the southern summit. The closest bus stops are the bus stopOn the fire (Kassel Plus tariff area; Baunatal) in a good 450 m distance and the bus stopBirch head (City of Kassel tariff area) around 550 m away. The bus routes run at both stops 51, 52, 53 and 55 (the latter only birch head). The Baunsberg hiking car park is located at the Rescue point KS-589; the photo of the hiking board is easy to read in full resolution.

Circular route 1	4.5 km	Baunsberg hiking car park	The Circular hiking trail 1 At the beginning runs identically in the course of the route with circular hiking trail 2 on gravel forest roads in a southerly direction along the western slope of Baunsberg (410 m). Halfway around the local mountain from Baunatal the circular path leads up the south slope from this, but not all the way up to the summit, and back.
Loop 2	5 km	Baunsberg hiking car park	The Circular hiking trail 2 In contrast to circular route 1, it does not lead up to the Baunsberg, but circles it once completely. A fitness trail has been set up in the southeastern part; the north-eastern part runs together with the cycle route Baunatal circular route on a distance of about one kilometer directly above the Autobahn 44 along. This reduces the attractiveness of the tour a little.

Hirzstein hiking board

From Schauenburg-Elgershausen it can be reached via Hirtenstrasse past the fairground. The closest bus stop is the bus stopDRK house (Line 59) about 450 m away, where the Rescue point KS-575 is located. Circular route 1	5 km	Brasselsberg hiking car park	The Circular hiking trail 1 If possible, you should start from the Brasselsberg hiking car park, otherwise an additional 650 m easy access path. From Brasselsberg the circular route leads over the seven ponds to the crossroads of Kaffeemühle and from there down to Rohrbach / Fischbach to the edge of the forest with a beautiful view. Last but not least, you go around the Dachsberg and the Birkenkopf (360 m).
Circular route 55	6 km	Hirzstein hiking car park	The Circular hiking trail 55 circumnavigates the Hirzstein (502 m) with NSG once. From the crossroads near the Teufelsmauer, a basalt tunnel that has remained in a tuff quarry, a branch path leads (i.a. Kassel-Steig) to the Hirzstein viewpoint with Dötenbierbank and Hirzstein telescope peep post. Without this detour, circular route 55 is only around 5 km long. The way back is via the coffee grinder.
Circular route 56	3.5 km	Hirzstein hiking car park	The Circular hiking trail 56 leads from the Hirzstein hikers 'car park over paved and unpaved paths to the Firnsbachtal settlement (with hikers' car park and country inn). From there over a steeper unpaved footpath up to a crossroads and over an asphalt forest path back down to the starting point. With a detour to the Obere Firnsbachtal, the hike is 500 m longer.

Firnsbachtal hiking board

The 51.291259.3701133 Firnsbachtal hiking boardType is group designation stands opposite the Landgasthaus Unteres Firnsbachtal at the eastern end of the Firnsbachtal settlement. The hiking car park of the same name Firnsbachtal next to the hiking board on the access road to Schauenburg-Elgershausen, together with the country inn, is a stage destination of the Habichtswaldsteiges. The closest bus stop is the bus stopDiemelstrasse (Line 59) at a distance of about 1.5 km, but more often the bus stopFirnsbachtal (Lines 52, 53 and 59) on Korbacher Straße (about 1.75 km away). Loop 56	3.5 km	Firnsbachtal hiking car park	The Circular hiking trail 56 leads from the Firnsbachtal hiking car park over a steeper unpaved footpath up to a crossroads and further down an asphalt forest path to the federal motorway 44. Here, skip the branch path to the Hirzstein hiking car park. Finally over unpaved roads to the Firnsbachtal settlement. With a detour to the Untere Firnsbachtal around 500 m more.
Circular route 57	3 km	Firnsbachtal hiking car park	The Circular hiking trail 57 runs through the Obere Firnsbachtal, through which one of the most beautiful hiking trails in the Habichtswald leads. The popular one is about halfway there Forest restaurant Herbsthäuschen (200 m easy access; Rescue point KS-579). The way back to the Firnsbachtal settlement is via the gravel access road below the Great Autumn House (509 m).

Further parking spaces for hikers

Mühlbachtal hiking car park: The Mühlbachtal hiking car park is located on Konrad-Adenauer-Straße at the height of the bus stop Flower path. It is ideal for hikes to the Zeche Marie, to the Bismarck tower or to the Marienfelsen or the Bilstein cliffs. The hiking routes lead past the hiking car park Kassel-Steig and Ederseeweg. There is an old water treading facility at the hiking car park, which is unfortunately no longer in good condition.
Wanderparkplatz Auf der Heide: The hiking car park Auf der Heide is located near the Mondschirm farm on Hans-Römhild-Straße between Harleshausen and Obervellmar. Possible hiking destinations are Daspel, Firnskuppe and the Obere Rinnbachtal. The hiking car park can also be used as an entry point for the five kilometer long Circular hiking trail 25 can be used, the other starting points of which are the Daspel and Firnskuppe hiking car parks.

The two identical hiking boards at the Kurhessen-Therme / Wilhelmshöher Allee and tram stop Wilhelmshöhe (park) / parking lot Ochsenallee (castle) list the health and hiking trails in the Habichtswald from the latter location on. In the meantime, the spa trails have been completely revised, which means that the hiking boards are out of date. See the article Terrain spa trails Wilhelmshöhe. The section hiking trails is still up to date. The photos on the hiking boards are easy to read in full resolution.

Hiking trail Druseltal

The Hiking trail Druseltal shows possible hiking destinations with stops that can be reached on foot from the Druseltal tram stop. For this reason, it also bears the heading "Hiking with the KVG". Possible hiking destinations with distance information according to the hiking board are, for example, Wilhelmshöhe Castle (3 km), Löwenburg (1.5 km), Hercules (3.5 km), Long grass (6.5 km) and Bismarck Tower (2 km). About the High grass (Ghs. and bus stop) steeply down to Hoof (possibly bad route). There end of the route in the center of the village at the church (bus stop).
◇ 31	15 km	Schäferberg - Long grass	From the Schäferberg settlement (hotel, bus stop) through a forest area via Staufenberg and Stahlberg to Heckershausen (train station /bus stop). From now on increasing through the High Habichtswald via the intersection of Rasenallee / Wolfhager Straße (bus stop), the Gasthaus zum Erlenloch, the Silbersee forest restaurant and the Kastanienallee to Tall grass With Forest restaurant, Observation tower, climbing forest, ski lift and bus stop.
Ʌ 32	21.5 km	Druseltal - Fürstenwald	From the Druseltal (bus stop) along the Kuhberg and over unpaved, sometimes difficult to walk forest paths to the Autumn cottage. Steep up to the Tall grass (bus stop) and to bus stop Vinegar mountain; downhill on gravel forest roads to Dörnberg (bus stop). After crossing the village steeply up to the Hohen Dörnberg, descending over the Helfensteine to the Dörnberghaus (Ghs./bus stop). Then to Fürstenwald (Bf./bus stop).
⊥ 35	11 km	Harleshausen - Dörnberghaus	From Ossenplatz in Harleshausen (bus stop) up into the forest towards Firnskuppe, detour possible (1.5 km). Via the Sandweg to the intersection of Rasenallee / Wolfhager Straße (bus stop) and Gasthaus zum Erlenloch. Descending down to the bus stop on Wolfhager Straße to Weimar to the train station (bus stop). In Weimar the long ascent begins in the forest up to the Dörnberghaus (bus stop) below the Helfensteine.
36	6.5 km	Hessenschanze - Hercules	From the Hessenschanze (bus stop) over the Schanzenstraße continuously ascending to the lawn avenue with hikers' car park and over gravel forest paths, later forest paths to the Wurmbergsattel. The viewing option from the Wurmberg, which is signposted there, is unfortunately overgrown. Short steep climb to the Waldhotel Elbuchen with an old lookout tower and past the Seidler alder to the Hercules (bus stop).
● 37	4.5 km	Rasenallee - Silbersee / Igelsburg	Of the bus stop Rasenallee, partly steeply uphill, on the old ski run to the Wurmbergsattel. Past the Alexander von Mielecki hut without further inclines over gravel paths to the old Hercules colliery and briefly downhill to the Silbersee forest restaurant. From here it is not far to the Silbersee or Igelsburg. A bus stop is located north on Wolfhager Strasse / access road Igelsburg.
◇ 38	3.5 km	Hessenschanze - Hercules	More direct variant of the hiking trail 36 without going through Elfbuchen. Of the bus stop Hessenschanze first over the Schanzenstraße, but then over unpaved forest paths up to the lawn avenue and on to the foxholes. From there on gravel forest roads along the Seeberg uphill to the Hercules; the last section leads over a few steps. Refreshments at the Herkules and bus stop.
△ 39	5.5 km	Hercules - Erlenloch	Of Hercules (bus stop, Restaurant) on the paved ridge path over the Bachberg to the Waldhotel Elfbuchen. Past the old lookout tower, steeply down to the Wurmbergsattel and along the Hühnerbergwiese to the attractive artists' metropolis on the Blue Lake. In a northerly direction on pleasant forest paths to the Erlenloch with Inn. Below on Wolfhager Straße / parking lot is the one of the same name bus stop.
⊥ 40	15 km	Druseltal - Ehlen	From the Druseltal (bus stop) on partly stony forest paths up to the Asch and on the same higher to the Cascade economy. Now slightly uphill on gravel forest roads to the Seeberg and the Wurmbergsattel. The next section of the trail along the Hühnerberg and down into the Ahnetal to the Förstersteg leads partly over unpaved forest paths. Past the forester's house Haide and the two Ausköpf (bus stop) Ehlen is reached (bus stop).
◇ 41	4 km	Druseltal - Devil's Wall	Of the bus stop Druseltal ascending evenly on gravel forest roads along the Kuhberg to the Fritz-Catta-Eck (refuge), whose view of the Mariental is unfortunately overgrown. Now on a direct path, later unpaved down to the Teufelseck with Teufelsmauer, an exposed basalt corridor. A detour from the Teufelseck to the nearby Hirzstein is recommended (● 42).
● 42	2.5 km	Devil's Wall - Hirzstein	Originally starting from the Teufelsmauer circular route over the Hirzstein (2.5 km), today only a 750 m long piece between the Teufelsmauer / Teufelseck and Hirzstein is marked (also as Kassel-Steig). South of the Hirzstein there is a view to the south from the Dötenbier bank over the edge of the quarry Crunch. The Hirzstein telescope peep post offers targeted views.
⊓ 43	6.5 km	Hercules - Flower Path	Of Hercules (bus stop, Restaurant) over the former railway line of the Herkulesbahn down to the settlement Krähhan, Restaurant Neuholland (bus stop). On unpaved roads up to the hawk play and further on gravel paths, later forest paths to the crossroads between Porta lapidaria and Bismarck tower (beautiful view of kassel). Steep down on a forest path to Konrad-Adenauer-Straße with bus stop Flower path.
△ 44	3 km	New Holland - hawk game	Of the Restaurant Neuholland (bus stop) outgoing circular route around the mountain Habichtspiel, partly on paved, partly on unpaved forest paths. On the mountain the Bruno-Giese-Hütte and a 12 m high wooden cross erected by the HWGV Kassel in 1933 as a memorial for his dead. Nice view from the edge of the forest over the clearings (in winter partly designated as a parking lot) towards Hochweide at the Herbsthäuschen.
◻ 45	3 km	At the Ziegenkopf - Firnsbachtal	Of the bus stop At the Ziegenkopf on Ehlener Straße past the hiking car park to the clearing mentioned above. On asphalt forest paths steadily downhill, at the end then steeply over unpaved forest paths down into the Firnsbachtal and to the settlement of the same name, there Country inn and parking lot for hikers. From the Firnsbachtal you can follow hiking routes to Hoof or Elgershausen (there each bus stop).
● 46	1.5 km	Bilsteiner Born - coffee grinder	Short signposted route from the bus stop Bilsteiner Born with pedestrian bridge below the Brasselsberg on Konrad-Adenauer-Straße over a dirt path up to Ederseewegbased on the bus stop Blossom path leads steadily upwards over to the coffee grinder. From there, a variety of hiking options to the Bismarck Tower, Hirzstein or the Seven Ponds.
● 47	3.5 km	Ehlener Kreuz - Firnsbachtal	From the Ehlen Cross (bus stop) at the rest home / golf course on unpaved roads, sometimes steeply over the Ziegenkopf to the Am Ziegenkopf settlement. On the paved Birkenweg / Hermann-Wenning-Weg to Forest restaurant Herbsthäuschen at the old Ziegenkopf colliery and through the gorge-like Firnsbach valley to the settlement of the same name Country inn. Further marked to the Hirzstein hiking car park.
⊥ 48	6.5 km	Flower Path - Long grass	Interesting variant for a hike on the High grass (restaurant, bus stop). Based on the bus stop Flower path on Konrad-Adenauer-Straße steeply uphill on unpaved paths to Porta lapidaria. From now on on gravel paths over the intersection of Kaffeemühle and Teufelseck / Teufelsmauer to Firnsbachtal and past the Autumn cottage steeply up to the Tall grass.
● 49	5 km	Around the Baunsberg	Starting from the Baunsberg hiking car park at the A44 motorway bridge, marked hiking route around and over the Baunsberg, on the southern summit of which is a ring wall and the remains of a lookout tower that was inaugurated in 1897 and demolished in the 1980s due to the risk of collapse. See also the description of the circular routes in the section Hiking sign Baunsberg. The next bus stop is located at the Am Brand settlement.
A 60	19.5 km	Bilsteiner Born - lawn avenue	Of the bus stop Bilsteiner Born via Gerottwiese and Sieben Teiche to the Firnsbachtal settlement Country inn. Up through the Firnsbachtal to the Excursion restaurant Herbsthäuschen and further steadily increasing until Tall grass (Ghs., bus stop). Via Wuhlhagen and the forester's house Haide to Igelsburg (former Ghs.), then after crossing the Ahnetal over the Silberborn to bus stop Alley of lawn.
B 61	6 km	Lawn avenue - Hercules	Of the bus stop Rasenallee initially on a par with the Fulda-Diemel-Weg (F) past the former Mosthof on the graveled Alte Wolfhager Straße. Finally, the beginning of the partly steep ascent on an asphalt forest path past the Silberborn to the old Hercules colliery (Abzw. Ghs. Silver lake). Via an unpaved forest path to the Seidler-Alder and at the same height to the Herkules (bus stop).
C 62	8.5 km	Hercules - lawn avenue	Of Hercules (bus stop) on par with the Habichtswaldsteig across pastures and Conrad-Henckel-Steg to the large quarry. Circumnavigation of this via unpaved forest paths, a detour to the nearby Silbersee is possible; then over the Igelsburg steeply down into the Ahnetal to the Lottmannsteg and past the Silberborn to the Alten Wolfhager Straße. Slightly descending to Rasenallee (bus stop).
D 63	6.5 km	Lawn avenue - Hercules	Of the bus stop Lawn avenue past the Hühnerbergwiese above the artists' necropolis along on gravel paths to the Silberborn with protective mushroom. Steep uphill past the old Hercules colliery to Silbersee restaurant, from there through the Ahnetal uphill to the Conrad-Henckel-Steg. After crossing a large pasture area, Hercules (bus stop) reached via paved forest roads.
H 64	3.5 km	Hercules - Kurhausstrasse	Of Hercules (bus stop) over the Hüttenberg with Little Hercules to the mountain lake Asch. Steep down to the Löwenburg, around it and down the Wolfsschlucht (stairs). Through the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe past Schwanenkamp to the village of Mulang (with pagoda), where the hiking route ends at the former Kurhausstraße tram stop. The next bus stop is now on Brabanter Strasse.
K 65	7 km	Kurhausstrasse - Druseltal	From the former tram stop Kurhausstraße on the same level as the hiking route H 64 over Wolfsschlucht and Löwenburg up to the Asch. From there on a beautiful hiking trail directly along the ash ditch to Restaurant Neuholland (bus stop), where the Druseltal is crossed. First up again, later then steadily downhill on gravel forest roads to the bus stop Druseltal.
L 66	6 km	Druseltal - flower path	Of the bus stop Druseltal steadily rising along the Kuhberg to the Fritz-Catta-Eck with a refuge. Via the Bilsteinklippenweg past the Ernst-Viereck-Buche, the Marienfelsen and the Bilsteinklippen to the Bismarck tower. Then partly steep descent over gravel forest roads to the bus stop Blossom Path on Konrad-Adenauer-Straße, from where the Ederseeweg (E) alternatively leads back to the starting point.
M 67	6.5 km	Bilsteiner Born - Am Ziegenkopf	Of the bus stop Bilsteiner Born past Gerottwiese, seven ponds and coffee mill, steadily rising to the Teufelsmauer (from there you can take a detour to Hirzstein). From Teufelseck (with protective mushroom) into Firnsbachtal, then following this uphill to Herbsthäuschen excursion restaurant. Via the Birkenweg / Hermann-Wenning-Weg past the Am Ziegenkopf settlement to the same name bus stop at Ehlener Str.
O 68 "Willi-Seidel-Weg"	12 km	Hercules - Kurhausstrasse	The Willi-Seidel-Weg leads from Hercules (bus stop) via Vorwerk Sichelbach and Loipenhaus to the Great Steinhaufen. After reaching the Tall grass partly steeply downhill to the former railway line of the Herkulesbahn and along the golf course to the bus stop At the goat's head. About New Holland (Ghs., bus stop), Asch, Hunrodsberg and Löwenburg zum Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe and down the Mulangstraße to Kurhausstraße.
V "Ahnetalweg"	23 km	Essigberg - bleaching meadow	Established in 1996 Ahnetalweg follows the ancestor, in kassel also known as Ahna, from its headwaters in the Habichtswald to the confluence with the Fulda at the Kasseler Bleichwiese. On the way you pass the Silbersee restaurant, the Steinfeldwiesen, the Brückenmühle, the Ahnepark in Vellmar, the Paris Mill, the Nordstadtpark and the University of Kassel.
D "Druselpfad"	13 km	Ehlener Kreuz - Rondell	The one inaugurated in 2013 Druselpfad the Drusel follows from its headwaters to the confluence with the Fulda at the Rondell. From the Ehlen Cross (bus stop) via the settlement Krähhahn / Neuholland (bus stop) and along the ash ditch to the ash. Past the districts of Mulang and Wahlershausen to the Goetheanlage, via Wehlheider Platz (bus stop Kirchweg), Tischbeinstraße and Philosophenweg die Karlsaue with orangery (bus stop).
DV "Dorothea-Viehmann-Wanderweg"	10 km	Knallhütte - Grimmwelt	The 2015 opened Dorothea Viehmann hiking trail seeks out places associated with the famous storyteller of the Brothers Grimm. From the Knallhütte in Baunatal-Rengershausen (bus stop) through the Dorothea-Viehmann-Park the fairy tale district in Niederzwehren (bus stop) reached. Through the Karlsaue The hiking route leads along the Aueteich to the Grimmwelt Museum on the vineyard.
Planet trail	7.5 km	Orangery - Mattenberg	At the astronomical-physical cabinet in the orangery (bus stop) begins the one that has existed since 1996 Planet trail (not marked). Via the stations Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars and Jupiter - distances and sizes of the planets on a scale of 1: 495 million - you get through the Karlsaue past the Aueteich to Saturn at Giesenallee. Since 2002 the Uranus marks the Mattenberg (bus stop) the end of the road.
