The town Auerbach (Vogtland) lies in the Göltzschtal and is after Plauen and Reichenbach the third largest city in the Saxon Vogtland.

Auerbach, first mentioned in 1282, is a small town in the Vogtland with around 19,700 inhabitants, which is located about 24 kilometers north of the Czech border in Saxony lies. The most famous symbol of the city is the Auerbach castle tower from the 12th century. Auerbach has a typically medieval, compact city center and numerous more distant districts. The two state-approved resorts are worth mentioning Beerheide and Snarling fir.

In addition to other cities in the Vogtland Auerbach was killed by skirmishes between the Reichswehr and the workers in 1920/21 w: Max Hoelz affected. The bullet holes can still be seen on some buildings.

The winter sports train ran in the 1970s Leipzig - Klingenthal through Auerbach and had a scheduled stop. The city was thus directly connected to the transport hub Leipzig connected. By plane

Auerbach has one Airfield , which is equipped with an 800 meter long Ashpalt runway. It is classified as a commercial airfield. There are no scheduled flights and there are no airlines. The airfield is mainly used as a hobby and tourist destination, but it is also open to private and business travelers. By train

Auerbach is from Zwickau and Plauen as well as from Czech Republic without changing with the Vogtlandbahn accessible. For train travelers to Auerbach Leipzig, Nuremberg and Dresden is a change in Zwickau or Plauen required.

When traveling by train to Czech Republic can buy tickets up to Sokolov and Carlsbad in Auerbach or on the train at the machine. The railroad is insignificant in inner-city traffic; the main means of transport between the city districts is the bus. The trains to Zwickau continue to operate as a tram from the main train station there, so that Zwickau city center can be reached without any problems.

From and to Auerbach, the connection to the Czech express train network results in very convenient connections to major cities in other countries. So are Prague, Moscow, Warsaw and Minsk as well as the Slovak Kosice with only a short change in Czech Sokolov easy to reach - and inexpensive if you buy a ticket in the Czech Republic.
