The Meadows form a large region of plains in the west-central Canada between the Canadian shield to the east and the Rocky Mountains West. This region includes three provinces: the Manitoba, the Saskatchewan and theAlberta. With the British Columbia, they form what is commonly called theWestern Canada.
Understand
The prairies canadian are the Canadian portion of the Great Plains which also extend to the United States. In Canada, they cover three provinces, from west to east:Alberta, the Saskatchewan and the Manitoba (sometimes abbreviated as “AlSaMa”). They extend from the Canadian Shield in the east to the Rocky Mountains West. The land is mostly covered with coniferous forests in Manitoba and wheat fields in Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Politically, the Canadian Prairie provinces are the most conservative in the country, especially in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Alberta is experiencing an economic boom thanks to oil development.

To speak
THE'English is the language spoken in the Prairies canadian. It is the mother tongue of 80% of the population. The other important mother tongues in order of importance areGerman, French, Chinese, the'Ukrainian, the shout, the tagalog, the punjabi and the Polish.
Since Canada is an officially bilingual country, it will therefore be possible to receive services in French in federal government institutions in urban centers. Outside urban centers, services in French in these institutions are available only where demand is high enough. The laws and regulations on French language services in provincial institutions vary from one province to another. the Manitoba is the prairie province with the largest concentration of francophones. Winnipeg includes the largest French-speaking community in Canada outside of Quebec.
The most widely spoken Indigenous languages on the Prairies are Cree, not, the black feet and theojibway.
To go
By car
It is possible to arrive in the Prairies canadian by car on several roads from other Canadian provinces and United States. The Trans-Canada Highway is the main route to reach the Prairies from the west or the east, i.e. from the British Columbia orOntario. From the south, there are several customs posts along the U.S. border from the Montana, from North Dakota and Minnesota.

Security
The level of crime tends to be higher in Saskatchewan, in particular to Saskatoon. At Manitoba, security is good. Some places of Winnipeg such as Portage Avenue and Main Street should still be avoided at night. In Alberta, the security is quite good. It is still recommended to avoid Victoria Park in Calgary as well as Whyte Avenue at Edmonton the night.
