Map of Rödelsee

background

A settlement Rotelse or Rädelsa is already in the 6th / 7th. Mentioned in the 19th century during the Frankish conquest, the name is probably derived from the leader Rodilo and has nothing to do with a lake. The place Rödelsee was first mentioned in a document in 1040.

The independent community Rödelsee has been part of the Kitzingen district since 1862, and has been part of the Iphofen administrative community since May 1, 1978 (Bavarian regional reform).

Fröhstockheim is a district of Rödelsee and is located about 2 km west of the main municipality.

Viticulture

The Rödelsee vineyards are located on the west side of the Schwanberg and are the Rödelsee master chef and the Rödelsee Schwanleite.

The favorable microclimate for viticulture results from the west-facing slope on the Schwanberg, plus the deep Keuperboden.

The most widely grown grape varieties are the Silvaner as "Franconian local hero" and the frost-proof Müller-Thurgau. In addition, Bacchus, Scheurebe, Kerner, Traminer, Riesling and, more recently, some red wine varieties are also grown.
