background

tourism

The beginnings of tourism in the region lie with the Bavarian royal family of Wittelsbach, who stayed in Ramsau to hunt. Modern tourism began in the 19th century, when the "natural movement" of that time discovered the romanticism of the mountains. The painters of the Munich and Vienna School brought the motif from Ramsau to the cities and thus promoted the summer vacation and tourism: In 1874 the Ramsau Tourist Association was founded.

Today the municipality has around 1800 inhabitants and has 3500 beds and around 55,000 guests annually.
