Marktschellenberg is a climatic health resort in Berchtesgadener Land in Upper Bavaria.

The market town lies at the foot of the Unterberg in the valley of the Berchtesgadener Ache, almost directly on the border Austria.
Marktschellenberg was created in 1969 through a merger with the municipalities of Landschellenberg and Scheffau. The former Gnotes in the area of today's municipality were Barmstein, Ettenberg, Götschen, Markt, Mehlweg, Oberstein, Schaden-Schneefelden, Scheffau-Neusieden, Unterstein.

The place is about 10 km as the crow flies northeast of Berchtesgaden and can only be reached from Germany via Berchtesgaden.
By plane
The nearest major international airport is that Munich Airport (also "Franz Josef Strauss", 185 km, approx. two good hours by car). From here offer above all Lufthansa and their partner of Star Alliance Connections to cities in Germany, Europe and worldwide. As the second largest airport in Germany, it is connected to a growing number of cities.
The Salzburg Airport is on the doorstep (16 km, about a quarter of an hour by car);

The next train stations are in Berchtesgaden and in Salzburg.
In the street
The Berchtesgadener Land is located in the south-easternmost corner of Germany, for long-distance travelers we recommend arriving via the A8 motorway (Munich-Salzburg):
Bad Reichenhall (in Germany) and over the federal road 21 and from Bad Reichenhall on the federal road 20 to Berchtesgaden and further on the federal road B305 to Marktschellenberg.
- Coming from the west (Munich):
Traunstein-Siegsdorf, continue on the federal highway 306 over Inzell and on the federal highway 305 on an extremely scenic route (German Alpine Road) above Ramsau and Berchtesgaden to Marktschellenberg.
- Of east (Austria) on the Tauern Autobahn A10,
Salzburg Süd and on the B 305 to Marktschellenberg.

Since December 2008, with the tourist card of the municipalities of Berchtesgaden, Schönau am Koenigssee, Bischofswiesen, Ramsau and Marktschellenberg, bus trips on the RVO lines in the association area have been subject to some restrictions free.

- Schellenberger ice cave
- Almbach Gorge. Open: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.Price: May 1 to October 31 (otherwise at your own risk): adults € 2.50, children € 1.50, free parking.
- In the course of the 2.5 km long easy hike, 218 meters of altitude are covered over 20 footbridges and 320 steps along the gorge. Duration approx. 2 hours. Sturdy shoes are recommended.
- Germany's oldest marble ball mill is located at the entrance to the Almbachklamm. Coarse chunks of marble have been ground into spheres here using water power since 1683.
