Bischofswiesen is a winter sports center and climatic health resort in Berchtesgadener Land in Upper Bavaria.

Bischofswiesen lies in the high valley of the Bischofswieser Ache between Bad Reichenhall and Berchtesgaden and is the northern entrance to the Berchtesgaden valley basin. Bischofswiesen is the second largest municipality in Bavaria in terms of area, the widely populated valley floor is flanked on its west side by the Lattengebirge and on the east side by a foothill of the Untersberg.

Gnotschaft from Bischofswiesen are Stanggaß, Strub, Engedey, Winkl and Loipl. Gnotschaft is the traditional name of the villages and places in the prince provost of Berchtesgaden.

The main line of business in the village is tourism with 50,000 guests and 300,000 overnight stays per year, as reported by the municipality.

By plane

  • The nearest major international airport is that Munich Airport (Also "Franz Josef Strauss", 188 km, approx. two good hours by car).   • Of east (Austria) coming: Symbol: ASSalzburg-Süd (in Austria) and on the federal roads 160 (in Austria) and 150 (in Germany) to Berchtesgaden and on the B20 to Bischofswiesen.

Since December 2008, with the tourist card of the municipalities of Berchtesgaden, Schönau am Koenigssee, Bischofswiesen, Ramsau and Marktschellenberg, bus trips on the RVO lines in the association area have been subject to some restrictions free.

Bischofswiesener Ache
  • cath. Parish church Sacred Heart of Jesus in Bischofswiesen, built 1924 to 1926;
  • Maria-Hilf-Kirche in Loipl, initially built as a chapel by the inhabitants in 1798/99 without the support of the church institution, it was then consecrated by the last prince provost of Berchtesgaden. As a result of an indulgence from 1805, the chapel developed into an important regional pilgrimage church in the 19th and 20th centuries.
