Burgebrach is a market in Upper Franconia southeast of Bamberg in the Steigerwald.

getting there

By plane

The closest airport is the Nuremberg Airport about an hour, getting there via the A3, away.

By train and bus

The next train station is in Bamberg, then continue with the bus.

Local public transport in the Nuremberg metropolitan region is operated by the Greater Nuremberg Transport Association VGN operated. It is possible to use different means of transport with one ticket, such as bus, train, S-Bahn or U-Bahn. The tickets can be purchased online or via an app.

In the street

Burgebrach is away from the autobahn, the autobahn A73, Highway A70 and highway A3 are about the same distance. The federal road 22 from Bamberg to Wurzburg runs through the place.

Tourist Attractions

  • The parish church St. Vitus with Gothic and Baroque elements was first mentioned in 1154. The tower was begun in the 13th century, an extension dates back to 1923. In the choir room on the right side are the donor figures of the Bamberg diocese, Emperor Heinrich and Empress Kunigunde.
  • A Mount of Olives Group stands in the church square in a hexagonal sandstone housing
  • A prince-bishop's hunting lodge, which was redesigned in the neo-renaissance style in 1909, is what it is today Rectory
  • Of three goals only that is Upper gate with the gatehouse from 1720, it is used today with the attached administration building town hall.
  • The former district court, was later a district hospital and is today Community center
  • Where once the Windeck Castle stood, on the old elevated road near Ampferbach only the moat can be seen today. A memorial stone reminds of this.
  • At the Nikolaibrücke near Grasmannsdorf are the sandstone figures of seven saints

Regular events

  • Every second Sunday in March, June, September and December there are markets in Burgebrach.
  • On the Sunday after Michaelmas (September 29th), i.e. on the last weekend of September or first October weekend, the church fair (Kerwa) takes place in Burgebrach.
  • The parish fair in the Mönchsambach district is in mid-November
  • Bock beer tapping at the Zehendner Brewery is at the beginning of December
