The oldest evidence of settlement comes from the Celtic and Roman times, the name of the place appears for the first time in 788 for an "ecclesia Nuzdorf". In the Middle Ages, agriculture and shipping on the Inn were economically important, and there was a ferry to cross the Inn.

Nussdorf is one of the most beautiful villages in Europe: In 2001 the place was the state winner in the Bavaria-wide competition "Our village should be more beautiful", in 2004 Nussdorf received a gold medal in the European competition "Entente Florale".

The next major international airport is Munich Airport: Munich (Also "Franz Josef Strauss", 112 km, approx. a good hour's drive). Nussdorf is located on the east bank of the Inn, the approach is via the Inntal motorway running west of the Inn:
- Of north (from Germany) about the
Rosenheim / Dreieck Inntal to Kufstein (the German part of the Inntal motorway),
Brannenburg.
- Of south via the Austrian Inntal Autobahn A12 (Kufstein - innsbruck) and after the border at Kiefersfelden,
Brannenburg.
From the motorway exit over the Inn Bridge Nussdorf and about two kilometers to the center of the village.
The sometimes quite busy local connection road along the east bank of the Inn with the connection to Brannenburg (Autobahn exit) lead through the town center.

- The whole well-kept is worth seeing Townscape with the façades of houses that are occasionally colored and decorated with flowers in summer.
- Parish church St. Vitus: Made around 1300, 1740 baroque interior.
- Pilgrimage church St. Leonhard, Landmark for the place and located a little southwest of the town center.
- Pilgrimage church Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Kirchwald, built in 1720.
- Holy cross, the church dates from 1677 and is about six kilometers south of the village on the border with Tyrol and on the connecting road near the hamlet of Windshausen.

- Leonhardiritt: takes place every year at the beginning of November, the starting point for the parade with horse, rider and decorated carriages is the pilgrimage church of St. Leonhard.
