Sand on the Main is a municipality on the south bank of the Mains on the northern edge of the Steigerwaldes in the district Hatred Mountains in Lower Franconia.

The community is separated by the Altmain. To the south is sand, to the north of the Altmain are the districts of Wörth and Siedlung.

Winegrowers, hedge taverns and wine taverns
The winemakers grow wine on the mountain slopes around the village and run their own hedgerows. Since hedge taverns (also known as ostrich or broom taverns) are only allowed to open as an inn for 5 months a year, you should check the opening times in advance.
