Kirchlauter is a community in Lower Franconia in the southern part of the district Hatred Mountains. The community and its districts are located in the gently sloping side valleys of the Mains, embedded between the Stachel natural forest reserve and the FFH area Haßbergetrauf. Not only the charming agricultural landscape, but also the many sights in and around the place are worth a visit.
background
A burial mound southwest of Pettstadt bears witness to the first human settlements in prehistory and early history.[1]
The valleys in the south facing the Main, the many springs and streams, the abundance of fish and game, as well as wood and sandstone as building material, are likely to have favored further settlement. It is believed that the region was settled by Slavs in the 8th century during the Frankish-Carolingian expansion of the country.
The community has been part of the administrative community since 1978 Ebelsbach, is part of the Haßberge Nature Park and is divided into the following districts:
- A. Goggelgereuth: First mentioned in 1373 when Kunz von Rotenhan received the tithe in "Godalgerüte".
- B. Hecklesmühle: The Hecklesmühle was mentioned for the first time when the property complex was acquired for a parish to be newly founded from the possession of the Knights of Füllbach in 1445.
- C. Kirchlauter: The place was first mentioned in 1145 when Marquart de Lutere as a witness before Bishop Egilbert at the Michelsberg monastery in Bamberg occurred. Kirchlauter belonged to the manor of the barons von Guttenberg, who lived in the village from 1502 to 1968.
- D. Klaubmühle: First mentioned in 1575, former mill built around 1500.
- E. Neubrunn: The place was first mentioned in a document in 1151, when a Eckehard von Hellingen donated a property called "zu Nuwenbrunnen" to the canon of St. Jakob in Bamberg, because the latter had accepted his son as a canon.
- F. Pass mill to the right of the stream: Former mill, first mentioned in the 16th century
- G Pettstadt: First documentary mention in an inventory of the Bamberg Benedictine Abbey of St. Michael around 1145 when eight goods in "Bettstadt" were listed as the property of the abbey.
- H Weikartslauter: First mention 1251
- I. Winter yard: First mention 1502

By bike and on foot
The community is crossed by several cycling and hiking trails. See also Hiking and cycling tours in Kirchlauter.
mobility
Those who are good on foot or by bike should not only explore the hiking trails, but can also reach the individual districts and their sights very easily via the agricultural trails. The old paths between the villages still exist today, which have often been forgotten due to the road expansion in the 1950s. Anyone traveling by car will quickly notice that the individual villages are only a few minutes' drive apart. Or you can use the local public transport system VGN Transport association for the greater Nuremberg area. However, this can only be used to a very limited extent for short distances between the individual villages.
