Ebelsbach is a community in Lower Franconia on the southern edge of the Hatred Mountains, located between the Main and the Ebelsbach valley of the same name. The community has two worth seeing in Ebelsbach and in OT Gleisenau Castles. The winemakers in OT Steinbach and the neighboring community Stettfeld operate the easternmost vineyards of the Abbot Degen Weintals the one to the wine-growing region Main Franconia belongs.

The period around 780 and 803, in documents of the monastery, is considered to be the first documentary mention Fulda become possessions in "Ebilbah"called. In the Middle Ages the area belonged alternately to Wurzburg and Bamberg. In the late Middle Ages, the von Fuchs and von Rotenhan families owned fiefdoms in Ebelsbach. The latter family built the moated castle in what is now the center of Ebelsbach, which was badly damaged in the Peasants' War in 1525.
During the Thirty Years' War there were several military conflicts, including in 1631 the village was looted. Due to the chaos of war in 1643 only 11 houses were still inhabited.
The place has belonged to since 1814 Bavaria and through the administrative reforms of 1818, today's municipality was created.
Since 1978 the place has been the seat of the Ebelsbach administrative community in the union of the municipalities Breitbrunn, Kirchlauter and Stettfeld.
In 2003/2004 Ebelsbach celebrated its 1200th anniversary and in 2015 OT Schönbrunn received the silver medal for "Our village has a future - our village should become more beautiful".
The eponymous Ebelsbach flows into the Main at the town of Ebelsbach.

Most places of interest and refreshment stops as well as retail outlets, banks, pharmacies, etc. can be found in the center of Ebelsbach or in the nearby industrial park and can be easily reached on foot or by bike. 1 Ebelsbach Castle (in the town center). 
The first fortification is said to date from the 9th century, which was heavily devastated in 1525 during the peasant war. The present renaissance castle was built between 1564 and 1569 by Matthäus von Rotenhan. The complex consists of the moated castle with a now dry moat, the castle chapel and the spacious manor with farm buildings. In September 2009 the castle was badly damaged by a fire. The castle building has only been temporarily secured since then. The entire facility is in a desolate condition and is not accessible for security reasons. 4 Tunnel systems in Ebelsberg, Speckrangen / Schützenplatz in Ebelsbach. .Underground tunnel system that was driven into the Ebelsberg (today a nature reserve) during the 2nd World War (1944/45) for the production of a nearby ball bearing factory. The listed complex consists of nine round arched longitudinal tunnels and is now operated by the "MF Frankensekt" sparkling wine cellar (see kitchen).
Gleisenau
5 Gleisenau Castle, Georg-Schäfer-Strasse 58 (OT Gleisenau). The first moated castle was built by the Fuchs family in 1548 and sold in 1767. The new owner was the cathedral dean Otto Philipp Erhardt Ernst von Trockau from the old Franconian nobility. The cathedral dean had the moated castle demolished in 1772/73 and built today's castle as a summer residence and hunting lodge in the late Rococo style. The plans came from the Bamberg architect J.J. Bird. The castle belonged to the von Groß zu Trockau family until 1968, when it was sold to the Dr.-Georg-Schäfer-Jugendstiftung, which used it before. In 1994 the facility was acquired by the Ebelsbach community, which housed the primary school in the castle. The school with the castle park is therefore often referred to as one of the most beautiful schools in Bavaria.

8 Evangelical Lutheran Parish Church, Kirchstrasse 8, OT Gleisenau. The parish church was built in 1711. The large bell tower was added for the 200th anniversary in 1911/12.
9 Geotope quarry NE of Gleisenau, Speierweg, OT Gleisenau (Located between Gleisenau and Schönbrunn.). .The quarry with Coburg sandstone is a protected landscape area and can be visited. The geotope is on the "Georoute Haßberge" with the information board no.
Steinbach
Viticulture in Steinbach, which has been in operation since the 14th century, is the easternmost wine-growing region in Franconia and is located in the region Abbot Degen wine valley, formerly also known as the Steigerwald wine-growing region. - Walk from castle to castle along the Ebelsbach (approx. 1.5 km): Behind the Gleisenau Castle, keep to the right and walk through the former baroque garden past the castle pond to the southwest through the 6 Wall opening (So towards Ebelsbach, not towards the forest area). After crossing the castle wall, the route goes along the Bachweg between the houses and allotment gardens, then along the Ebelsbach at the sports facilities. After the second bridge continue to 7 Judenhof on the Stettfelder Str. Opposite is the Ebelsbach Castle.

Viticulture in Ebelsbach can be traced back to the year 1335. The vineyards in the Steinach district are the easternmost contiguous wine-growing region in Franconia. Well-known locations are the Steinbacher Nonnenberg and the Oak wire.
Since hedge taverns (also known as ostrich or broom taverns) are only allowed to open as a restaurant 5 months a year, you should check the opening times in advance.
