Hofheim in Lower Franconia is a picturesque half-timbered town on the Hassbergen in Lower Franconia. The former district town became a contemplative place worth seeing and a new discovery away from well-known Franconian tourist destinations thanks to the old town renovation. Hofheim is on the B 303 between Schweinfurt and Coburg, a very scenic road through an idyllic and sparsely populated area.

First documentary mention as the Carolingian administrative center "hoveheimono", origins of the city even older than "Hofingen".
In the Middle Ages, Hofheim belonged to the sphere of influence of the Würzburg bishops, and town charter has been in place since 1576. In 1803 the city came with Würzburg and Lower Franconia as a result of the Vienna Congress to Bavaria.
The former district of Hofheim in Lower Franconia was dissolved on July 1, 1972 and incorporated into the newly founded Haßberg district (HAS), the market Stadtlauringen was assigned to the district of Schweinfurt (SW).
Districts of Hofheim today are Eichelsdorf, Erlsdorf, Goßmannsdorf, Lendershausen, Manau, Ostheim, Reckertshausen, Rügheim (Hofheim) and Sulzbach.

The nearest train station is in Hassfurt (approx. 19 km), continue by bus. The former railway line to Hofheim has been closed, Hofheim station is a museum station.
By bus
A direct bus connection with which one could get from Hofheim to Schweinfurt or Coburg has not existed for several years. Arrival and departure by public transport is only possible by bus via Haßfurt.

The southern part of the old town around the parish church has already been renovated and today, with its paved square and alleys, offers a medieval townscape again. The northern part around the main road is to follow next. There are numerous listed buildings in the old town Half-timbered buildings and remnants of the old city wall receive.
- 1 Catholic parish church of St. John the Baptist, Marktplatz 8, 97461 Hofheim. The single-nave late Gothic nave, built around 1520, was rebuilt in 1739/40. The church tower is from 1593 with a pyramid roof and a stair tower. Neo-Gothic interior.
- 2 Holy Cross Chapel, Corner of Eichelsdorfer Str. / Ringstr. (located at the eastern gatehouse). The Kreuzkapelle and the choir were donated by 21 citizens in 1601. The nave was built from 1719 to 1723. The high altar is in the classical style, the side elders from 1789 are decorated with rich Rococo shell work.
- The three Gatehouses: The Bad- or Lendershäuser Tor, the Weth- or Großmannsdorfer Tor and the Obertor from the beginning of the 18th century, no defensive gates but access controls.
- 3 Hofheim Railway Museum, Bahnhofstrasse 18, 97461 Hofheim i. UFr. Tel.: 49 (0)9523 1305. Private museum of the former station management on the history and technology of the former Haßfurt - Hofheim local railway - opening times by arrangement.
- 4 Eichelsdorf Castle (Specialist clinic for the treatment of drug addicts), Schlossstrasse 1, 97461 Hofheim in Lower Franconia (OT Eichelsdorf).
The castle was built between 1678 and 1713 as a successor to a moated castle destroyed in the Peasants' War. The castle was named until 2008 St Alfons Monastery used as a retirement and recreation home by the Würzburg Order of the Sisters of Mercy, then the owner changed: The "Tübingen drug help" info is currently taking over the castle.
- 5 Fortified church Goßmannsdorf (OT Goßmannsdorf). The church, built in 1716, is enclosed by mighty walls with 4 towers to increase the defensive strength.
- 6 Evangelical Lutheran Parish Church, Corner of Lange Pfalzgasse / Pfarrgasse (OT Rügheim). A stone church was built on today's church square around 1150, dedicated to "Our dear women" and was thus a St. Mary's Church. Over the centuries it has been built and rebuilt so that the nave and the choir vault are in the Gothic style, but the tower from 1734 has a "Welsche dome" from the baroque renovations.
- 7 Schüttbau, Lange Pfalzgasse 5, 97461 Hofheim (OT Rügheim). Former tithe house from the 16./17. The listed building is used as a conference and cultural center.
