Hofheim in Lower Franconia is a picturesque half-timbered town on the Hassbergen in Lower Franconia. The former district town became a contemplative place worth seeing and a new discovery away from well-known Franconian tourist destinations thanks to the old town renovation. Hofheim is on the B 303 between Schweinfurt and Coburg, a very scenic road through an idyllic and sparsely populated area.

In the Middle Ages, Hofheim belonged to the sphere of influence of the Würzburg bishops, and town charter has been in place since 1576. In 1803 the city came with Würzburg and Lower Franconia as a result of the Vienna Congress to Bavaria.

The former district of Hofheim in Lower Franconia was dissolved on July 1, 1972 and incorporated into the newly founded Haßberg district (HAS), the market Stadtlauringen was assigned to the district of Schweinfurt (SW).

Districts of Hofheim today are Eichelsdorf, Erlsdorf, Goßmannsdorf, Lendershausen, Manau, Ostheim, Reckertshausen, Rügheim (Hofheim) and Sulzbach.

The southern part of the old town around the parish church has already been renovated and today, with its paved square and alleys, offers a medieval townscape again.
