The Kassel Airport (until January 2015 Kassel-Calden Airport) is the regional commercial airport in the region North Hesse. It is located 15 km northwest of the city kassel at the community Calden.

The expanded regional airport Kassel-Calden started operations on April 4, 2013. The very controversial airport was north of Calden completely rebuilt (now with a runway of 2,500 m).
In 2008, Kassel-Calden was still used as a commercial airfield by 25,000 passengers (as private planes and business travelers in smaller jets)

Arrival and departure
By train
The airport does not have its own train station. From the next long-distance traffic stop "Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe" the airport can be reached by bus 100. The next local transport stop is the Calden-Fürstenwald train station, which can be reached by bus line 46. The RT4 of the Kassel regional tram stops at Fürstenwald train station, which can take you to Kassel or Wolfhagen.[1]

In operational aviation, the airport is used by general aviation. It is of particular importance for business aviation. The airline Businesswings with 3 aircraft maintains its base at the airport [5]. In addition, two business jets from the airline Star Wings Dortmund are stationed in Calden.[6]

Check in
The 10 check-in counters are located in the middle of the entrance hall of the terminal. Most of the time, the counters open 2 hours before departure and close 45 minutes before the flight. For absolute safety, please always check with the responsible airline or your travel agency before your flight[8]
Parking / mobility
For holidaymakers arriving by car, 750 free parking spaces are available on site (250 to 300 m from the terminal).
There is also a smaller, paid parking lot directly opposite the terminal.

The P1 is free of charge for 15 minutes for those who collect or deliver, or for short-term parkers

AVIS, europcar and SIXT are directly represented in the public area of the terminal.
activities
In the summer of 2011 a small one was built above the airport 1 Information center with viewing terrace and toilet (open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.). From here you have a view over the extensive area of the airport.
The former Infopoint can be approached directly by car (parking on site). There is a freely accessible viewing platform on the container. The container itself, including the toilets, is no longer an info point.
