Middle East - Midden-Oosten

SARS-CoV-2 without background.pngWARNING: Due to the outbreak of the infectious disease COVID-19 (see coronavirus pandemic), caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2, also known as coronavirus, there are travel restrictions worldwide. It is therefore of great importance to follow the advice of the official bodies of Belgium and Netherlands to be consulted frequently. These travel restrictions may include travel restrictions, closure of hotels and restaurants, quarantine measures, being allowed to be on the street for no reason and more, and can be implemented with immediate effect. Of course, in your own interest and that of others, you must immediately and strictly follow government instructions.

It Middle East is the name given to the areas that lie approximately east of the Mediterranean Sea.

Nations

The boundaries of this area are not clearly defined, but usually the following six regions are involved:

Regions of the Middle East
Arabian Peninsula (Bahrain, Yemen, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates)
Much of the Middle East is covered by this area. Here you can enjoy Islamic culture in holy cities like Mecca, but it is also possible to marvel at the enormous height of the skyscrapers in Dubai. Finally, in the sand dunes of Oman and Yemen still soak up the atmosphere of the famous legends and movies.
Egypt
Egypt forms the transition area between the continents Africa and Asia. Egypt is of course best known for the pyramids, tombs and the Sphinx, but the country has many more cultural treasures to offer.
Holy Land (Israel and Palestine)
The origins of the three great religions of the world have made this area sacred to much of humanity. Outside of holy places like Jerusalem you can also enjoy the coast at Haifa or enjoy shopping in Ramallah.
Iran
This large country in the Middle East also forms the transition area to the rest of the Asian continent. In Iran you can find many remains of ancient Persia.
Levant (Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria)
The first civilizations emerged from this area, which can still be seen in the ancient ruins. This area is characterized by the influence of Alexander the Great and the Romans mixed with the Islamic culture.
Turkey
The transition between the continents of Europe and Asia. Turkey is best known for its beach holidays, but it is of course much more than that. Here are the big city Istanbul and the savage country Cappadocia only two examples!
