background

Districts
Imperial Palace in Bad Oeynhausen

The spa town of Bad Oeynhausen is located on the southern edge of the Wiehengebirge. It belongs to the Ravensberger Mulde natural area. The two rivers are characteristic Werre and Weser. The Werre flows into the district Rehme in the Weser. The city was founded in 1860. The current expansion of Bad Oeynhausen was created in 1973 through the incorporation of the municipalities of the Rehme Office. Today the city is divided into the districts of Bad Oeynhausen (center), Dehme, Eidinghausen, Lohe, Rehme, Volmerdingsen, Werste and Wulferdingsen. Bad Oexen, Wöhren (Eidinghausen), Bergkirchen (Wulferdingsen) and Oberbecksen (Rehme) are not part of the city.

Legend has it that in 1745 Colon Sältemeyer was amazed at the salty crust on his pigs after they had wallowed in the mud. As a result, the construction of a salt works began at this point. Today the reminds us of this legend 1 Sultemeyer fountain ("Pig fountain") in the center of Bad Oeynhausen.

shop

If you want to go shopping as a car driver, the Werre-Park shopping center is THE recommendation. As the name suggests, the Werre Park is not far from the Werre. The usual chain stores can be found there. If you stay in Bad Oeynhausen without a car, you can take the bus from the ZOB directly to Werre Park,

A pleasant contrast to this is the largely smaller, owner-managed retail in the city center with its pedestrian zone.
