The closest airports to Thailand are Sakon Nakhon (SNO; 180 km south) and Udon Thani (UTH; 195 km southwest). The airport of the Lao capital Vientiane is closer, but the transfer is more complicated due to the border crossing.
Bueng Kan can also be reached mainly by long-distance buses. The state-owned company The Transport Co. offers a direct connection from Bangkok's north once a day Bus station Mo Chit at. The bus leaves Bangkok at 7 p.m., takes 12:15 hours, a ticket costs 517 baht. The same connection is also used by private companies like Sawadee Esan and 407 Pattana offered.
