UNESCO Creative Cities Network is a UNESCO program founded in 2004. It is an attempt to maintain cultural diversity in a time of internationalization and globalization. Culturally interested travelers in particular get their money's worth here.
background
For this program, a network of cities was created that demonstrate special skills in one of the culturally funded areas. These cities support each other through cooperation and exchange of experience. Cities that are interested in participating in this network have to submit to an application process. There are currently 7 different areas of this so-called. Creative Industries:
- design
- Movie
- Crafts and folk art
- literature
- Media art
- music
- gastronomy
If a city meets the criteria, e.g. in the field of film, and is accepted, it receives the title of a UNESCO City of Cinema. It also commits itself to active cooperation. Of course, these cities are also popular destinations for travelers with these interests.
