Unlike other airports, especially in France, spotters are welcome here as long as they respect certain rules. Once a year, supervised access for a maximum of 25 spotters inside the airport and for three hours is organized during “Spotters Day” which is generally held during the month of August.
- Spotters news – airport website for all you need to know about spotting at Brussels airport.
The airport has several sites, including two developed by the airport authority itself, which are free and easily accessible by enthusiasts of this activity. All the sites are passable without too much difficulty for the PMR and none require the use of a scale to take the photographs.
Please note that, in Belgium and without a license, the use of a VHF receiver to listen to conversations between the control tower and planes is prohibited. It is also forbidden to use drones even with a user license.
- Track 7R / 25L – It is the most used runway for landings. The best hours are 7 h To 11 h and of 17 h To 20 h. For the first two sites, a car park is set up to the left of the axis of the track at the entrance to the rural path starting from the Kortenbergsesteenweg at 1820 Steenokkerzeel; for the third site, a car park is set up in front of the “Caricole” transit center which can be reached by the Tervuursesteenweg at 1820 Steenokkerzeel (follow the signs Spottersplatform 25L / 07R
- 1 Approach beacons 25L – To be under the planes.
- 2 Runway threshold 25L
- 3 Transit center – To be as close as possible to the making contact. Two artificial mounds with platforms were created by the airport manager for the use of spotters.
- Track 01/19
- 4 Approach beacons 01 – To be under the planes.
- 5 Target point 01 – Also suitable for crossing runway 01/19 with runway 7R / 25L. Here also the airport manager has arranged the site of the Vliegbos for spotters and even has a play area for children, picnic tables and a fenced area for dogs to roam. It is reached by the Mechelsesteenweg in 1930 Nossegem then by the Namenstraat (follow the signs "Voetbal S.K. Nossegem") to the car park
Spottersplatform 01/19 then continue on foot towards the Vliegbos and the observation platform (approximately 07 min).
- Track 7L / 25R
- 6 Steenokkerzeel cemetery Van Frachenlaan, 1820 Steenokkerzee
Mon.- Sun. : 9 h - 16 h. – This is the only more or less correct place to observe the activity on side 25R but also on side 19 of runway 01/19.
Never forget that you are in a cemetery. Moreover, a warning in Dutch with an explicit pictogram expressly reminds spotters of article no.o 264 of the municipal police regulations, namely that it is forbidden to stay in the cemetery without interruption from the opening time to the closing time, that it is forbidden to climb on the graves, to play, to disturb the tranquility of the place, to abandon waste, to cycle there.
- 7 Target point 7L – If you are by car, coming from the Nieuwe Zaventemsesteenweg, take the Dreststraat then, on the right, the Filip Dekleermaekerstraat and park as close as possible to the barrier which prevents access, to cars, to the Ringlaan; pedestrians and cyclists can easily pass on either side of this barrier.
- 6 Steenokkerzeel cemetery Van Frachenlaan, 1820 Steenokkerzee

Fontaines d'eau potable
