Balamku is a Mayan ruin in Campeche (State) in Mexico.

These Mayan ruins, only rediscovered in 1990, date from the classical Mayan period. Not much is known about this city yet. Initial analyzes have shown construction phases in the period from 550 AD to 650 AD. The buildings are generally assigned to the Río Bec style.
getting there
A car is needed to get there. Access is via Carretera Federal 186 Escarcega - Chetumal. At km 93 near the village of Conhuas, an asphalt spur road branches off to the northwest. The 1 Ruins city is located 3 km northeast of the MEX 186.
Traveling by public transport will hardly be possible.

What has been discovered by the city so far consists of three different complexes. There is a north, a central and a south group. You can only see some excavated pyramids in the north and central group. The highlight of this system is the Templo de los Frisos. There is a 20 meter long frieze with mythical representations, some of which still show the original color. The following details can be identified:
- Jaguars - symbols of war, power and magic.
- Masks - depictions of Cauac, god of the underworld.
- Toads, crocodiles and kings - symbols of strength and power.
- Crocodiles and toads with open jaws - symbol of fertility.
- 3 doors - entrances to the Xibalba underworld.
